they know the ending is bad, it was originally a design choice to have multiple endings, one of the higher-ups decided to introduce a P2W ending system where the player could get the best ending without failure.
The developers strongly disagreed and such we were left with the bad ending.
a lot of developers are being laid off by the time the first DLC drops as they're not conforming.
