Hey /v/. I'm a VR gamedev. I've used all of the major headsets (oculus, vive, sony's thing, the gear, hololens, and that meta thing).
Ask me anything about any of them. I dev mainly for the Vive (before you ask, it's the best BY FAR of any of them). I can answer any question about the vive, the steamvr setup, etc. And most questions about the other vr/ar stuff coming out.

Yes.
It's one of those things that even I thought was a huge gimmick. Then I tried it, was blown away, and now I'm 100% on board.
My only concern about it not taking off is if everyone just assumes it's bad. I have yet to see a single person try a vive and not have their jaw drop - including some pretty jaded guys like /v/. That being said, Valve has been doing tours around the country and letting random people try the vive, which I think is the best way they can handle marketing.
Will I be able to calibrate the vertical orientation of the thing?
I have the samsung phone one but it doesn't seem to have an option to tilt the virtual horizon up so that I can comfortably lay back on a bed or recliner chair and watch a movie with my head facing the ceiling.

Why is Star Fox Assault so perfect?
It's far from perfect since the story is a bit cheesy that ends with the the lesson of Bugs having no soul, but it's a good game.

It did have the tightest Arwing controls, though. Felt like absolute sex to control one.

Some guy at my job started to play dota last week, he was shocked when the game alerted him that he was in low priority and muted for 48 hours because his 4 man party team reported him for com abuse, but really it was because he was still learning the game and went 2-7. I decided to watch his game and see if I can give him some pointers... Nigga was muted for com abuse and the only word he said in the entire game was "lol". The fuck happened to this game?

A less puzzle-oriented ghost house. Try wall jumping while only holding down one direction on the control! It might make facing those ghosts easier...

Has anyone actually legitimately defended the countless flaws in this masterpiece without saying something along the lines of "it was designed like that on purpose, stop trying to make it into a different game just because you're bad at it"?
No one has ever said it was flawless. It has a ton of problems.
Graphics is one.
Muddy textures is another
Movement not being fine enough for platforming is another
The fact that the game has any platforming at all is another.
Power weapons being absurdly better than piercing is one.
Especially when you get into the realm of spears and halberds, which are worthless.
I would say that more people are going to claim that DeS has fewer flaws than DaS, but even DeS has its problems.
