Because the spells respond perfectly fine, thats what makes WoW superior to other MMOs to me and many people.
It is simply the worse of two evils, if you rather have cool anime animations but spells that overlap their GCDs and don't follow the GCD then I feel sorry for you.
Not saying WoW is good anymore but it was one of the main reasons why no WoW clone was ever good.
They all fucked this basic thing just for flashy animations.

It just feels like these games are big for the sake of being big. Everything feels empty a lot of the time, there's entire stretches where you either go through a lot of fucking nothing to reach the next city or just use fast travel (which I think is a sign of bad game design, that you are so aware that your players don't even want to see your world that they just skip that part entirely) with random collectibles of no real worth lying about to give the illusion that you aren't just wasting your time while going from mission to mission.
Compare that to something like a Yakuza game. You've just got a single town there but every street corner has something new to do, even if it's just eating at a restaurant to refill health. You can probably walk from one end to the other in less than ten minutes (barring any random battles you'll get into.) There's arcades and karaoke and bowling alleys and golfing courses and batting cages and hostess clubs. Sure there's pointless collectibles in the form of locker keys, but at least they're just lying around the city in places you're already going past anyway and not buried in the middle of nowhere solely to give you an excuse to drive a thousand miles out of the nearest town to get a fucking gun part or something.

Why do people claimed to have liked Johnny so much anyway?
He pretty much went completely backwards on everything you did in The Lost and Damned and got killed for it, why do people only now say he was a great character?

I think it just hit people kinda hard watching him get killed off for what seems like such a meaningless reason, after having put all the time into his character in TLAD. That and Trevor is just an asshole.

How the fuck did this game happen?
DMC1 was one of the most important video games ever made, the first big 3D hack and slash action game that didn't play like clunky dogshit because the technology was finally advanced enough and it's mechanics (specifically the transformation meter, the launcher and the ability to cancel moves together) were copied by tons and tons of action games ever since even if they didn't copy the challenge/well designed enemies or other elements of the game.
Then they made a sequel that took literally everything that made the first game so memorable and tossed it into trash. I know they got a different studio to make the game but how did they fuck it up that badly?
They put a game critic in charge who had never designed a videogame in their life. I agree it was garbage.
