Square is banking so hard that Final Fantasy XV will be the next Final Fantasy VII. I mean, Tabata himself said that he wants XV to sell 10 million units and then surpass Final Fantasy VII. If this bombs, Square will be bankrupted. Not even Final Fantasy VII Remake or Kingdom Hearts 3 will save them.
I will admit, I love their confidence thinking XV will be the rebirth of JRPG and the best Final Fantasy game of all time but if this whole XV franchise thing fucking backfires.. /v/ is Final Fantasy XV to big to fail? There is literally a decade worth of hyped around it

It's not going to dip below 5 million, regardless of anything else. Its too big a name, with too much hype, to not do well.
The deciding factor in if it reaches the 10 million units sold goal will be the marketing and reviews - normies will usually buy any sufficiently shilled AAA, openworld ARPG normally, but given the stigma against XV's boyband leads and the XIII trilogy it'll need to put in extra effort.
If it can do that and get the sort of person who buys five games a year at most interested like VII did, then it'll reach that goal. But its a big if.

I don't even mind the concept of loadouts or power weapons, I think those aspects can work.
I highly doubt they've spent any time putting analysis into what makes an arena FPS great. I doubt they've even spent time with the competitive scene of their previous games to get their input. I mean shit, it would be interested in knowing if sponge/sync ever had any input.
I get that lot of these issues can be fixed, but right now there's no way in hell I'm putting my money down on a game with a skill ceiling / mechanics this basic and with all these fundamental issues that make for a shit FPS. It really looks like id have no idea what they're doing any more despite being the grandfathers of the scene.
