Just had one of my best ones yet.
Currently running a magic orientated jack of all trades build, got flash sword, heavy soul arrow and a heal miracle equiped. Also a raw estoc as a back up, even though I try to stick with magic. Got a bow and firebombs as well, going for a more ranged aproach.

>massive brawl, hitting a TON with soul arrows, phantoms have no idea what they're doing

Had this earlier as well.
I was assisting some guy through the cathedral outsides when we got invaded by some cheeky fucker named JOHN CENA.
He waited for us to kill the ninja skellington, the host immiddiatly bumrushed him during the invaders clapping emote, expecting me to follow.
Instead I just did a patches squat on the sidelines. Have a little respect will ya. Host got rekt pretty hard even after using estus at least twice.

Why are whirlpools such a common vidya hazard? Its just water being spun in a circle.

Stellaris is what MOO3 should have been years back. There's always going to be people that will either find it too simple or too complex.
Things paradox did right.
1) Easy tutorial advice similar to later sim games.
2) MOO research system/similar ground combat.
3) Developed a quest system to break up the repetitiveness of the empire building.
4) Handled a way to avoid micromanaging hundreds of star systems directly.
They did a bunch of things right that many other designers need to look at.
