I'm starting to think the original Playstation might be the most overrated console. I don't want to jump to such a conclusion because I never owned one growing up, but I came into possession of one about 5 months ago and I've been going through a lot of the core games (Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Chrono Cross, Resident Evil, Legend of the Dragoon, Parasite Eve) and everything is just off putting about the delivery. It's like the devs wanted to show off the 3D capabilities of the time and as a result there's bulbous polygonal figures everywhere that have aged far worse than the sprites of the earlier consoles before the PS1 and there's cutscenes fucking everywhere, always accompanied by some of the most atrocious loading times I've ever been witness to.
For example, right now I'm playing through Mega Man X4. I'm very farmiliar with the first three games as well as the earlier NES games. I can't go 5 minutes in this game without everything stopping and more text boxes popping up to advance the plot. I don't care, just let me play fucking Mega Man. If you want to have a story that's fine, but don't impede my progress multiple times a level just to shove more text boxes and cringey anime cutscenes in my face. The actual game here probably isn't even that bad but it's so hard to appreciate when it keeps stopping every few minutes to spew more diologue.
Anyway, I obviously can't speak for the entire library, but as of now it seems pretty clear to me that this console spawned the cinematic approach that in fests the AAA industry today.

You're actually pretty spot on.
The PS1 has not aged well at all. At the time, it was really cool to have because the cutscenes were really neat and new for gaming, especially on a console, but from a more objective standpoint all the story pandering really is more intrusive than it is helpful.
And as far as Mega Man X goes, they only get worse.

I came up with the concept for a character based on what Sombra looks and feels like to me. They're a huntsman with a bionic arm that has a powerful purple energy crystal stored inside it. The character uses this crystal to create a bow made of the energy that fires blots of energy, similar to arrows.
>Left click quick fires energy bolts (energy bolts appear in the hand instead of needing to be drawn from a quiver, which is why they can be quickfired)
>Right click charges an energy bolt that takes longer to draw but does considerably more damage and is more accurate
>E fires an energy bolt that creates an AoE blast of energy in a small radius, good for crowd control and group damage
>Shift turns the character invisible for a few seconds, allowing for a way of escaping against tanks and high damage heros (Widowmakers Ult negates this)
>Ult is where he calls in a powerful beast that follows the hero for a moderate amount of time, attacks enemies and creates a distraction for the hero so they can get in shots with the energy bow.

Requesting a comic where Vita gives away all of her exclusives to PC and PS4, claiming that she doesn't need them anymore and wants them to see as much recognition as possible. PC and PS4 go off with their new games, while Vita goes back in her room which is in disarray, and goes to write a suicide note with tears in her eyes.
I would have wanted to make this myself, but I can't draw for shit's worth anymore and I feel this would be pretty topical right about now.

Siege STarter edition is 15 bucks on Steam now. From what I understand you get access to the full game but need to grind to unlock more operatives and crap.
So is this game still worth getting or is it dead in the water? I missed the boat when it came out and heard /v/ was mildly positive about it.

What if Battleborn was released by Blizzurd? Would it be as hyped as Overwatch? Would fangays defend it?

There would be people defending it but it would become clear that it was a failure quite soon. Look at D3 or HOTS. That's what Blizzard's Battleborn would have been like. High initial numbers, then down to a few thousand players just weeks later.
When you have this much influence and marketing behind your games you can make pretty much any turd of a game successful kinda. It will not have any longevity but yeah
