Yeah it actually gets pretty depressing when you get to the end of season 2 and all of season 3. I'd say only watch season 1 to get to know the characters and learn their relationships. It's something you can skim through. If you want it might even be worth it to start with season 2 to cut down on wasted time. You can probably guess the set up well enough from that point IIRC.

You get an incredibly dour season 2 finale, and season 3 is devoid of humour. It's a great show, but since you're part of the joke it probably isn't for you to begin with.

There's a noticeable drop in quality once characters start leaving. People talk up how big the drop is when really it's still a solid show. It's worth it to watch until the end.

"Battle of the Bastards"
>First scene is Davos at sunrise. He finds a heavily charred wooden horse he gave Shireen in some rubble, protected by a patch of snow
>Tormund has a convo with Sansa around campfire. Sansa is unsure of whether she did the right thing (doesn't say specifics). Tormund reassures her by talking about Mance Rayder, then says Jon is his the one “to lead them through the long night.” He asks Sansa about that “yellow haired woman” and if she's got a “man in the south.” Pretty funny reaction.
>Jon talks to Melissandre in her tent. Tells her not to bring him back. He asks why she brought him back and why she follows him. She says it can't all be for nothing, something must come from all the sacrifice.
>Ramsay talks to Rickon, who is in one of the kennels. He tells him that his bastard brother wants to save him. Rickon asks where Osha is. Ramsay feins politeness, even gives him some food. He tells Rickon that he will be with his family soon before leaving.
>Jon's army moves into position before Winterfell. Jon and Sansa talk while on horseback when they see it. Sansa asks Jon if he remembers all the times “father” would go on a hunt and Arya would run away to join them. He would always come back early and frustrated, Arya with a sly grin on her face after “mother” scolded her. She tells Jon she's sorry “mother” treated him the way she did, then asks if he ever knew who is mother was. Jon says no.
>Davos rides besides Lyanna Mormont. (The cut from Jon saying no to her face, and Davos saying “Lady Lyanna” is priceless.) He chats with her while Mel rides behind them all morose. Eventually Lyanna rides ahead and Davos is beside Mel. Mel tells him he's good with children. Davos doesn't respond.
>Armies face off on the field. Several flayed bodies are set across the field. Jon, Davos, Tormund, and Sansa ride to parlay with Ramsay, Lord Umber, and Lord Karstark.

>Ramsay taunts everyone. He reveals one of the flayed men to be Lord Glover. Another to be Lord Manderly (not kidding). Basically all the Lords who “betrayed his loyalty.” He goes on to taunt Jon about being brought back from the dead with his “red witch.” He tells Tormund every wildling will be flayed living. He taunts Sansa about her being a disloyal wife. He then tells Davos about what he heard from his men about Shireen and about finding Stannis' body. He tells Finally he talks about Rickon, and how he'll set him loose if they all surrender.
>After the parlay, he sets Rickon loose and begins shooting arrows at him. Jon rushes to save him, but one hits him. Sansa cries over his body as it's brought back. Jon tells everyone to prepare for a fight. After the volley by Ramsay's forces, Lyanna Mormont tells her men to “raise the banners.” It's the Stark banner. Her and Sansa do stay behind, along with Mel.
>The fight is pretty much: Ramsay burns the flayed bodies, Arrow Volley, Charge by Jon's forces. Calvary charge by the Umbers. Wun Wun fucks shit up. Tormund saves Davos' life. Ghost kills Lord Umber after he falls off his horse. Bolton forces finally march forward and trap Jon's army.
>Tormund dies when he tries to charge towards Ramsay after all other wildlings appear to be slaughtered, and gets shot down by arrows. He goes out like a boss (think Borimir) trying to get to Ramsay (who's sitting on his horse watching the whole thing. Wun Wun tries to save him but is too late. It's basically “The Last of the Free-Folk.”
>Jon's forces get trapped by advancing Bolton forces. Sansa, Lyanna, and Mel contemplate retreat until the knight's of the Vale appear with Littlefinger and Lord Royce. Royce orders them to charge and they take out the Bolton forces.

>Lord Karstark tries to flee but is captured. Ramsay retreats inside Winterfell. Wun Wun tears down the gate, and Jon enters. He and Ramsay have a badass sword fight which Jon wins. He orders (to Lord Royce) Ramsay put in chains. Mel watches as Bolton banners burn from a distance.
>Littlefinger approaches the three ladies and tells Sansa he made good on his promise. Lyanna verbally castrates Littlefinger. It's amazing.
>Cut to Mereen, which is on fire. Danny dresses down Tyrion pretty hard for trusting the slavers. She orders Grey Worm to defend the Pyramid, that the Dothraki will take back the city with Daario leading them. Tyrion points out that the Unsullied and Second Sons are depleted and the Dothraki cannot fight off of land. He says there's only one option.
>Danny goes down into the pit where she put Rhaegal and Viserion. She lures them out, then mounts Drogon. All three dragons swoop down, burning ships in the bay. The CGI is pretty impressive.
>One of the dragons (not sure if Viserion or Rhaegal) get shot with a harpoon and is tied down to one of the ships (the master from Yunkai). He ends up burning the ship and the master and breaking loose, but is clearly injured.
>The Greyjoy fleet appears, with Yara and Theon shouting orders. They completely decimate the Masters' fleet.
>Cut back to Winterfell. Mel is inside a tent getting ready for something when Davos walks in. She seems surprised and asks him why he's there. He tosses the charred wooden horse on the table. She looks up in shock. He grabs her by the neck and brutally chokes her until she's dead.
>Davos exists the tent, looking around nervously, then mounts a horse and rides off.

Secondly Family Guy is just as funny if not funnier than American Dad but people on /tv/ only like American Dad because they're contrarian and want to disagree with mainstream people and be edgy

I mean, I can understand if you have grown out of all "adult" cartoons by this stage (I have definitely been tiring of Family Guy in the past few years, I'm now 25) but I still recognise that FG can be pretty funny at times, and I also recognise it's probably the best "adult" cartoon there is
