Watched it three times now its getting better with every rewatch
Jew jew Abrams is gone so its only up from here
I can't muster any outrage because I never liked any of the Star Trek movies. Not a single one. No, not even that one.
What would you do with a kilo of unobtainium?
>>63660111
Nothing because I wouldn't know how to sell it or forge it
>>63660111
It would need a market and without that who do you sell it to?
it's pretty shitty that they actually used that word in the film, it's a placeholder word to describe a substance in the meta context of writing, it'd be like making a hero film where they're literally on a quest to find the legendary "macguffin"
So SyFy just did the pilot episode for Childhoods End, and it came out pretty close to the novel. Pacing was steady, perhaps a few plot holes which needed fixing here and there. The overall plot is ubiquitous with philosophy that may seem tired and torn, but it still made for good entertainment.
Can we get a thread going about it?
Let's just pray to whatever that SyFy doesn't change the ending....

It'd be pretty hard for them to fuck it up, there's no much direction they could go in unless they break away from the story entirely. I just don't want the series to drag on. Hoping for a 26 episode (or less) season 1 and done.
>>63660112
Its a mini series as far as I know.
Tell me more about the book, any good?
O hai /tv/
Yes yes, we're all going to see this movie James, don't worry.

Will /tv/ stop making fun of Quentin now? He consistently releases great pieces of cinema that are not only highly ranked by the critics but are also highly ranked on IMDB. It seems like /tv/ is the only place that doesn't appreciate this man's work, probably because you're all jealous.

Sorry Reddit, but Quentin Tarantino has only ever made flicks.
Just finished reading the dark tower series a month before I heard they will be making a movie. Pretty excited but I find it strange that they are casting the gunslinger as a different race.
Anyone have any thoughts?
I read the first book and thought it was awesome but tried to read the second and couldn't get more than 50 pages in. So I won't be watching it.
Niggers, and what have you.
>>63659883
Honestly glad it's actually going to be made, hopefully it isn't shit. As for Elba, he's a meme, they could find a better Roland in 2-3 weeks of casting.
Has there ever been a more uneven series?
At its best, it doesn't just blow away the prequels, it rivals the original trilogy in its best moments. At its worst (seldom the case however), it's like the cartoon movie that spawned it, worse than even Episode II.
There are episodes with death and dark, complex themes I'd hesitate to show to a young child or even a sensitive teen, and then there are episodes written for toddlers with Jar Jar, droids and cartoon lizards goofing off.
What it ultimately does however is succeed where the prequels...

>that arc where Obi-Wan fakes his own death, has facial reconstruction, changes his voice, and goes undercover as an assassin to compromise a plot to kidnap Chancellor Palpatine
>his codename when he reports in to the Jedi is "Ben"
Fucking GOAT
Asohka should have been in the movies.
That's all I have to say.

Anikan as your main antagonist was a difficult pill to swallow for me simply because of how many ships he crashed/troopers were killed under his command. He crashed a frigate. He probably costed the empire a rediculous amount
Ashooka annoyed me because it always seemed like she had the right answer for everything and was always proving jedis wrong. Kinda of made me wonder, if she's so amazing why is Anikan "the chosen one".
Ended up stopping around season 4
Dooku and Grevious were...

Anybody else wish this had been Star Wars Episode I (pic related)?
>>63659569
You mean, like, in terms of plot? It would be difficult to justify to a Western audience the fact that the main sith (Jade Fox) is laughably weak compared to the film's jedi.
>>63661227
Also, it would be hard to imagine that a Sith could have a genuine, vulnerable relationship with her apprentice.
>>63661227
That would actually be perfectly justifiable. Up until the prequels made Sith that much stronger than the Jedi, all we had for Jedi was a kid that knew very little about the Force at all, and a cocky old man. Vader was matched by Luke in their encounter in RotJ showing he wasn't all that powerful. The Emperor was only so powerful because he was the most experienced one in the force at the time. He kind of sucker-punched Luke too.
Then the prequels happen and Jedi are just weak retards and the Sith are...

What's /tv/'s honest opinion on Ran?
gorgeous
I've only seen it the whole way through twice, but I've spent literal whole days doing nothing but watching and sleeping to Ran.
the most ambitious and spectacular kurosawa film, but it does drag a little
ikiru is his masterpiece
How is it the Fucking breakout star of a show called Girls with four female leads a Fucking male?
What the FUCK is going on here? How is this Fucking allowed!? And fools try to say that Hollywood and TV and film don't be having sexism problems.
I mean he has basically this supporting role but now he is the breakout star from the new Star Wars movies are you Fucking KIDDING Me hepcats!?
>>63659430
They wanted a sensitive-ish relatable male that has beta tendences but isn't all out autistic
His role on girls is exactly that
For their main female role they wanted a strong and seemingly intelligent girl, they chose a random brit
I see nothing sexist
Because everyone else on the show is awful...its not hard to understand
>>63659430
It's because he's a Jew and in Hollywood that's all it takes to make you a star these days (eisenberg unrelated)
Would you hang with Mark for a day?
>>63659261
Hell yeah. Dude is probably hilarious to be around....
he is so Star Wars
No, he is white and privileged.
