I just saw this I truly enjoyed it. I consider it up there with Terminator I and II. I like the story a lot. It was something different, even if the trailer made the flaw to show the twist thatJohn Carter is the villianIt's sad knowing that films critics bashed this movie yet they are bound to praise Starwars TFA when it comes out, despite TFA being a cookie cutter of Ep IV, whereas Genysis had a unique story.

Simple story in an immersive universe that is almost always in one kind of good vs. evil struggle or another. The Galactic Civil War of the original trilogy is presented with almost no moral grey area. Rebels are good, Empire is bad.
It's like asking why sliced bread is popular. Shit is nourishing, simple, and convenient. Same logic applies here.
