Can someone explain to me why this was a thing? In the OT it almost made sense for the then completely dominant Empire to throw a fortune into building some death stars, because they had galactic control and unlimited funds, and already had a massive space fleet and ground forces. The first order though doesn't seem to have jack shit other than an unnamed few systems under their control, and the last battle they faught on Jakku they got thier ass whipped.
Wouldn't it make infinitely more sense to throw all those resources into building a fleet? What are they...

Nobody knows what the deal with anything in this movie was. JJ wants just a remake of a new hope but BETTER but never explained anything.

The first ordered is the shattered remnants of the empire and don't have the same support it once had. To regain their power and prove they are even greater than the empire ever was they build the Starkiller base.
It's just another nod to the empire/first order's being a space version of nazi germany. Hitler built lots of megaweapons that were pretty much useless and others that worked. Just to prove he was fucking awesome.

So this guy cansense and stop a blaster shot from behind, but is unable tofeel the presence of Han or anybody in that room and is shot by a fucking bowcaster?And don't start with this 'he's just an apprentice" bullshit cause even if he is, he's definitely wasn't that weak in the first scene.
He's strong when it comes to actually using the force in an outward manner, but is physically a weakling and lacks the discipline to use the Force in an inward manner.
Basically he's only good at Force pushing/stopping stuff and reading people's minds.

It's like Vader sensing Luke in the darkness in ROTJ. He knows he's somewhere in the dark but isn't sure where.
But he did feel Han's presence, thats why he went to the oscillator in the first place. He just couldnt pinpoint it. And as far as not blocking the shot afterwards. Well he did just kill his father. He was kindve lost in the moment.

I just rewatched this scene, and Darth Maul is actually pretty smart. At the beginning of the fight, Maul lures the two Jedi out into a large, open area, precariously balancing himself on an outcropping. One might think, "That makes no sense. Why would someone deliberately put himself into such an indefensible position?" He then jumps to a bridge, and the Jedi follow. He then kicks Obi-Wan off of the bridge. The film makes it clear several times that Chewbaccas gun is incredibly powerful. He takes a full blast to the gut and keeps going when other people were blown away by the same attack. Even during the fight he is very clearly injured and stops twice to try and deal with the injury. He is still able to push past it and fuck up Finn. By the time he fights Rey, he has already accumulated several serious injuries.

While I didn't do anything wrong persay, it didn't do anything with its premise that I hadn't seen done many times before (blue collar dad who yells a lot, hates his more successful neighbor, slacker son, stay at home wife who wants more etc) and it used characters swearing a lot as a way to cover its weak humor. Overall I'd give it three keks out of five.
