It went on and on and on at point where the movie would have benefitted from slowing down. The long drawn out gang confrontation was entirely pointless when they were all dead 10 minutes later.

But all my friends loved it and especially liked these rolling CGI monsters. I guess it was put there to satisfy the people lusting for some lighthearted action.

So, /tv/, what were your main positives and negatives on this movie? I just finished watching the movie and I want to share them with someone.
Positives:
1) I liked the new characters (other than the weird woman from the bar)
2) Good action, as expected from J.J.
3) Han Solo was excellent. Harrison Ford did really good.
Negatives:
1) Way too fast paced. Barely no good dialogue to give you a reason to care about what's going on, and when there was, four times out of five it was nearly immediately interrupted by something happening. The exceptions that come to mind were Kylo Ren killing Han Solo and the end with Luke and Rey
2) They made Kylo Ren look like a bitch. In the first third of the movie he was great, but then he gets counter-mind probed and later outmatched in sword fighting by a stormtrooper and an untrained woman. This is not how you build a villain, Disney. The villain is supposed to look like a threat before he's finally beat. He was literally saved by nature.
3) Really dumb move to blow up the Death Star 3.0 in the first movie of this trilogy. Are they going to build another Death Star again? Or god forbid, two of them, one for each movie? Come on.
So you wanted the movie to end with no good people prevailing in any way. You'd make for a shit writer, dude.

Sorry but this completely ruined the immersion for me. He didn't even have any second thoughts in murdering the men he grew up alongside. They could have started him out being abit cold and not sure if he was doing the right thing helping Poe, maybe have him not understanding certain social conventions that he wouldn't have learnt whilst with the first order, then he could have followed an arc and become the funny likeable guy he is. But him being like this from the get go made no sense and made the first order look like a joke.

It seemed like Finn didn't want to kill his old comrades in the First Order he wanted to run away to the Outer Rim. But circumstances forced him to keep fighting. Like one second he escapes the first order and the next they are back. There was almost no time to think in this movie as is typical of JJ productions. It was all fast action.

Her "death" was shown off screen. The heroes of Episode 4 survived a trash compactor themselves. She'll return out of nowhere in some dramatic fashion to give Finn someone to face whom he can believably beat. They had far too much story to tell to give Phasma extended screen time.
