I don't know what this is but this didn't feel like Star Wars too me brothers.
I know the feeling very well, i was 12 years old when i watched the OT for the first time, and 16 when i watched the prequels , who for all their many failing, felt like Star Wars.
I didnt went from the OT to the PT saying WTF, i was aware that the prequels were kinda all over the place, but after seeing this thing yesterday and collecting myself, this ain't StarWars . Its this feeling, i keep having when thinking about it, sure it is a VERY competent movie, some really cool stuff, but this is not Star Wars in my opinion.

Except it is not, i marathoned the OT specifically before going to see it on the big screen, and it was Jarring.
Im (i mean i was) a pretty Trek Buff, and this is the EXACT same feelings i had after the 09 Trek Reebot, it was a good space romp but it was not Star Trek.
Mind you i was not a picky Trek fan, i loved pretty much all of it, from the OG trek to Enterprise, they had that Trek charm.
But the movie left me hallow, just like this one.

How can they be called Resistance when they're backed by the dominant political entity in the galaxy? Aren't the First Order the real rebels, fighting against the Republic that's now in charge? It annoyed me that they aren't really rebels anymore but they're still called that so they can sound like the underdogs. Isn't First Order is the same position here that the Rebel Alliance was in the OT?

The section in the outer rim that the First Order controls are systems that do not want to be part of the Republic. The resistance is there to make sure the First Order doesn't expand/destroy too much (whoops).
