Are these two masterpieces the best examples of true kinography in 2015?
Both made by ageing auteurs (both are 72), who have decided to tell their stories purely through moving images and sounds, experimenting with editing and new technologies with more freshness and energy than any 20-to-40yo filmmaker.
It is quote obvious they are both followers of Bresson and his essay on Le Cinématographe, his fondness of gestures, and have perhaps surpassed him.

There is another.

I haven't seen Knight of Cups yet but Blackhat is a solid example of kino

no movies or flicks, please, this includes hipster nihilist trash like PTA, post-ironic memes like Korine etc. This also includes the Tim & Eric & associates crew, Kaufman, etc.
New thread for speculation and whacky theories.please don't be contrarian just for the sake of being edgy contrarian - it's boring as fuck

Pilgram's Progress implies there is a safehaven an eventual destination to be reached
He believes in God, but clearly struggles to understand the relationship with himself
I enjoyed the film immensely, i think its one of the best ive seen in the last 5 years at least, way better than to the wonder

Half of the military academy stuff was really good, half of it was abysmal, that said even the worst of the academy shit was better than Alaska or the ranch.
I liked the scattered episodes where Francis was back at home tho, I thought he had a good dynamic with the rest of the kids.
>>64443634
Agreed, he really didn't need so many subplots. The episodes were short enough they should have focused on the rest of the family more.

>Malcolm in the middle
>Malcolm's in the top left

I'm guessing you don't like the X files for the same reason?
Lynch is about atmosphere. If you don't get that there's really no point in watching.
Lucy best grill
Since it was around 1967, how easy (or difficult) was it to film this? The same could be asked of Terminator 2 and The Matrix I suppose. Was the technology that was required to make certain scenes created FOR the scene or was it available already and other movies just didn't utilize it?
>>64442109
What do you mean?
>>64442109
some tech was there - matte and animation
some tech was innovated - the cinar projection backdrops (africa backdrops then projected in real time on a light reflective panel) and stargate sequence
kubrick decided not to use blue screen or do a disney and use layered animation cells because he didnt like the black lines and matte distortion (just look at un restored star wars footage). instead, he literally had assistants cut out composites (spaceships and planets etc)and re film on animation cells, so there...
