The prequels were like the outline for a good movie, ruined by weird details. How would you fix them if you had to end up at the same point, and use the same general characters and themes?
I don't think the long-winded scenes with Padme were necessary
or really, even the dialogue, John Williams' theme for their romance is so fucking infatuating it does the magic on its own, just show some bed/kissing scenes and shit

Anakin isn't some angsty punk, he's a legitimately heroic individual introduced at a late age to a world that bothers him, on both sides.
He grows up on a backwoods planet that is NOT Tatooine, where he spends most of his time working in a mine, or helping around the house for his mother, Shmi, and her sister, Beru, who are maids for the baron who owns essentially the planet, keeping it from growing.
He has no knowledge of the Republic, because there is no education on this awful place, having left the Republic long ago. He basically knows nothing, other than he's bothered constantly by voices, and swings of emotion that seem pushed from outside. He can also do things that others can't, but doesn't know how. His mother knows, but also doesn't know what to do about it, and asks him to keep it a secret.
His sister is in love with an older man who programs binary load lifters at the mine, Owen Lars, and Owen is a big advocate for Anakin using his natural skills to find a better life off planet. This small time work is offensive to Owen, and he thinks Anakin can actually get out, especially since he straight up built a star ship and can fly it like a natural (unfortunately, no hyper drive).
