its better than i expected, surprisingly entertaining
during iron giants limited rerelease last year, it had two shows, one of which fucked up at the theater that was showing it for me. the manager clearly didn't know what the fuck he was doing. so after waiting an hour for him to say "we're going to keep trying to play it, but we'll put something on so you're not just sitting in an empty theater waiting" they put on maze runner 2, and then eventually refunded all our iron giant tickets/gave vouchers for free shows
so i went into maze runner 2, already pissed at them, disappointed, and havent seen the first one, nor wanted to read the books at all
and i actually liked it, visually it was good, the city cg was a little shitty in parts, but overall it wasn't bad. the monster design was entertaining, its apparently some sort of fungus zombie or some shit, i dont know. and the action was pretty good for a "kids" movie. Clearly i missed alot of shit the story was about, didn't know who a fuckton of the characters were, nor care about some of them. But with all of that, i actually liked it, it made me want to watch the first one, which from the little i looked into it, had BETTER creature design, and more action
from what i heard though they fuck with the story, and leave out alot of shit, but not so much that its a different story

What a shitty exposition machine deux ex machina character. Blight of a otherwise good movie, that reveals the constrained rushed production to tie together plot elements and push it forward without having to reveal details saved for the sequels "le stort for a nudda time"

Damn this one was enjoyable - and I'm not really the action type, but this one caught me off guard. Thought it was gonna be some mediocre washed up James Bond-ish film (implying it wasn't), and I was really surprised.
