So back in the 80's there were competitive D&D tournaments
How does /tg/ feel about the mere idea of competing on D&D? Will you like to partake in one?

It sounds completely antithetical to what tabletop games strive to be.
Old-school D&D especially was loose with rules so you had to make stuff up on the fly and it is that improvisation that makes the game fun. Putting it in an organized, competitive setting kills that and makes the competitive aspect impossible because different GMs will have different levels of bullshit and outside the rules wackiness they will allow for. Since what you're referring to was typically just a dungeon delve then MAYBE, but at that point you should just buy a wargame and abandon the whole roleplaying aspect.
I'd dig some kind of convention dungeon crawl where whichever group gets the furthest wins some prize. Maybe something small, like a dice set each and a certificate.
Or maybe players swap in and out. There's a queue of players, once a character dies, you're out, and it's on to the next player.

Everything points to the Emps needing to return, though. Necrons are progressively becoming a larger threat. Chaosarmies are learning and finally conquered Cadia. Main Tyranid fleet is approaching. Orks are about to have a fuckmassive WAAGH.
Don't think a splintered and faltering Imperium can handle it without the Emps.

What is the attraction of evil?
Does being evil just provide oppurtunities for advancement not possible within normal society - allowing the lowborn to become great leaders, princesses and tenth sons to break outside of roles they're forced into? Does it give even the rabble and hordes of followers a chance to be their own men and make names for themselves?
Is it just a method of obtaining power for those who desire that above all else? Magical artifacts, world domination, ancient knowledge long lost that perhaps should have remained lost?

Let's see some possible scenarios of the last minute of the EoM. Suppose that the Emperor emits the last message trough the Warp,a big scream that goes across the galaxy and trough every human mind. There is no place for double meaning. All scenarios post-scream are open (starchild,blabla)

Smart choice would probably be something reaffirming that the emperor encourages scientific advance in the imperium, and legalizing artificial intelligence again.
Emperor doesn't even need to come back as a star child etc if that message gets across. They would have near enough the manpower of the tyrannids/orks and the technology of the Eldar and Tau

We talk about writing Mars centric settings, but Venus never gets any love despite having:
-A point in the atmosphere where pressure and temperature end up being perfectly fine for humans if a little toasty (around 30-40C)
-Plenty of free energy with the clouds being able to reflect the abundant sunlight available due to Venus being closer to the sun on top of all that trapped heat down below
-Lots of water in the sulfuric acid cloud layer.
-A thick carbon dioxide atmosphere which turns breathable air into a lifting gas

Venus has kind of a shitty magnetic field.
You're a Cave Hydra, big and mighty. However, your size and mightiness is yet again questioned by something clearly not natural.
Before you stands a massive rocky being. It radiates nothing that would make it alive, it's as if the rocks were forced to move. I'm interested in opening up a shop. There is nothing around my town within a 4 hour drive, but quite a few magic players. At the very least, I'm interested in selling online if brick and mortar falls through. There's all kinds of guides and resources available for this if you're in the us, but is there anything available for Canadians? Any of you running your own shop? Obviously mtg is the main moving product, but we'd like to bring in warhammer and maybe some fantasy flight games to see if they generate any interest in the area
