Are the FFG books a fair source of lore? I want to GM a campaign of this, and I'd like to be able to present a cohesive world to the PCs.
I have EotE and AoR so far.
>>46802220
They currently are mostly old-canon, but as nuCanon has rolled in they have adopted that.
The "guide to the galaxy" part is actually pretty solid, telling you what the planets do and stuff. While they are sparse if you are running post-ROTJ stuff, they do serve very admirably for 4-6. The game setting primarily assumes you are in post-Yavin Death Star times, but before the Emperor's death. Realistically you could run it at ANY time, as they give stats for stuff you need. B1 battle droids are in it, as are stormies if you wanted to run them as... well B1 battle droids and clone troopers.
You could easily substitute most Dark Jedi for an inquisitor if you wanted to do that. The inquisitors as they are stat wise are more in-line with old EU inquisitors rather than fodder like they are in season 2 Rebels. Players are expected to have pretty severe trouble with them, especially at low levels. A fun thing to do, if you plan on having inquisitors, scale it back stat wise (adversary 1 instead of say 3) and have them "build up" with the party, represented by training between their failures to capture/kill the party. This makes for a good repeat BBEG that also has a strong motive for the players to get invested in the story.
Well, this is it lads, another quest thread. With Warcraft. the lads over at the RPG discussion center had a few novel ideas about setting the game around the end of the second war or before the third war revolving around the bastard child of the Alliance: Alterac. In this story we take the role of a poor cleric who has been forced into the role of being a patsy while his kingdom is dismantled(tm). Will he make alterac Rise again? Will he die
>You are Anlec Falconcrest. Third son of Baron Falconcrest and far removed from the succession line of you spent an idyllic time in the valleys of alterac before being sent away from home, serving as a lay brother in the brotherhood of the horse in Stormwind.
>you were there when the kingdom of stormwind was tormented by the green skinned demons from the dark portal and witnessed stunning acts of brutality and bravery. All that was for naught as the wizard Medivh betrayed his race.
>You were part of the strike force that entered the tower of Karhazan to slay the mage and were among the last to leave the shores of Stormwind as the city burned.
>Now that long war is finally over. The Expedition has left for the orcish homeworld and has sealed the portal from the other side. There will be no way back for them. They are doomed to death or worse, but their memories shall live on forever.
>You were prevented from joining the expedition and seeing the war to it's end. Treachery most foul has been committed by your countrymen and their fate - and yours- lies in the balance. Baron Perenolde has absconded and several noble houses have either followed him or have been exiled. Only your stellar conduct throughout the war has kept from being dispossessed.
>>46778732
>you have been granted the lordship of the ancient town of Strombrad. Situated at center of the kingdom between the fork that divides the northern and southern mountain passes, and sitting between the Capital and the farmland on the shores of Lake Lordemere, it has always been an important part of the roadways in Alterac. The merchants were well to do and brought the traders brought coin in to the ancient hillfort guarding the town.
>Now however the fort is a blackened ruin that is being covered up by snow and there is hardly any trade to speak of. Despite what Uther the Lightbringer might say, the Kingdom of Alterac is now in ashes.
> True, you never spent too much time here. The fondest memories of the place that you have are those of the apples you loved picking from the orchards of your Lord Father's manor. Now he and your eldest brother are dead and your second brother is absconding, being hunted as criminals and traitors by the alliance at large.
>Yet at the end of the day, you always will remain a son of alterac. You never forgot it during your time as a knight of Stormwind, and they never let you forget it after the betrayal of Alterac.
>It falls to you to pick up the pieces. Even now the vultures circle overhead the dying eagle of your nation. You have heard the rumblings. King Thoras Trollbane wants the the kingdom dismantled, and subsumed into Stromgarde and Lordaeron. King Genn Greymane wants to nominate his ward Isiden Perenolde as the king of Alterac and the kingdom filled with Gilnean patsies. Can you fight the dire forces assailed against you? Can you make the Eagle of your forefathers rise again?
And with that rather lengthy intro, lets get down to the nuts and bolts.
>>46779315
so I guess the trick will be to restore the place to prosperity while convincing Arathor and those Perenolde upstarts that each other is bigger threat than we are...?
I mean war is over, Orcs have been neutralized, peace has returned. What's the worst that could happen?
>>46779315
So for the basic holdings, I will be using the ASOIAF custom house holding thing. Alterac is modeled on the Mountains of the moon because they serve a similar geographical hurdle and a roughly similiar political structure. Instead of the mountain clans stirring shit up, we will have orc stragglers, ogre holdouts and the angry nobility and the retainers stirring shit up and harassing our smallfolk.
>Defense: 30 - Mediocre with great natural terrain but nearly no fortifications
Alterac has always been a defensible location. It is what allowed the Eagle to fly above the mountains when your land was surrounded by the more powerful lordaeron, Stromgarde and the City state of Dalaran. However, the betrayal has met with swift reprisal. The castles and towers are now in ruins or garrisoned by Stromgarde or Lordaeronian soldiers and they are not sympathetic to your cause. Once the land is deemed pacified they will surely draw down and return home. Until then, you are not allowed to build anything more than low stone walls to protect your people.
>Lands: 10 - A speck of Land, no larger than a single town.
You have been granted the town of Strombrad- or as it is now being called - Strahnbrad as a reward for services rendered. While you feel you could have been given more important holdings, the towns' relatively important position on the Alteraci Royal Road holds the seed of power if you can use it.
>>46779632
there is a surprisingly large amount of stuff lurking in the background that we have to deal with since Alterac is collapsing in upon itself.
Does /tg/ like Conway's Game of Life?
>>46771180
A bit.
But how would it be adapted to be a game?
>>46771340
Have two different on states, red and blue.
game executes as normal when red and blue cells are not adjacent.
When a red a blue cell are adjacent, the one with the lesser amount of friendly cells adjacent to it is killed. This is cumulative for all enemy cells touching a friendly sell. (pic is example). enemy cells otherwise do not affect each other
Game is played on a 1000x1000 board, toroidal, and each player starts in a 100x100 region along the midline of the board and equidistant; they have 10/25/100 (whatever) number of starting cells.
A bit of background here for people who don't know what this is.
Conway's game of life is a "no-player game" that takes place on a 2-dimensional grid of cells. Each cell can have one of two states: "alive" or "dead". Whether or not a cell is considered alive or dead is governed by these four rules:
>If a live cell is surrounded by one or fewer other live cells, it dies on the next turn, as if by underpopulation.
>If a live cell is surrounded by two or three other live cells, it stays alive on the next turn.
>If a live cell is surrounded by four or more live cells, it dies on the next turn, as if by overpopulation.
>If a dead cell is surrounded by exactly three live cells, it comes to life on the next turn, as if by reproduction.
From these simple rules, remarkably complex situations can emerge. In gif related, each frame corresponds to one turn, strictly following the rules outlined above. Despite the simplicity of these rules, no matter how much mathematicians have scrutinized this game, they have found no simple way to predict what will happen n number of turns from now, except to play the game out for n turns and see what happens.
The creator of the game, John Conway, hypothesized that it would be impossible to create an ever-expanding universe under these rules; that any given configuration would inevitably give in to entropy. This was disproven by some MIT students when they developed the structure shown in gif related.
Hi /tg/, I don't see this topic brought up often so I thought it'd be an interesting thing to ask about- In particular, I was hoping to discuss or brainstorm some ideas on how to visually communicate worldbuilding elements when coming up with a character's design and outfit choice.
Is that kind of thing something you'd be interested in talking about? I have a particular character in mind already, but if anybody else is having the same problem feel free to start posting your starting ideas here as well.
>>46834675
This is just vague enough to be meaningless.
>>46834675

>>46834675
>has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Yes.
Over the following couple of hours you oversee the details of the assistance you are granting to Moray Darktide.
The Dawn, frustrated with your notion that it will be at least a full season before your forces are in their best shape for attacking Skullstone, has requested three of your First Age ship (which are not LITERALLY First Age, just using advanced magitech... you should really agree on a proper name for those vessels) and 200 red cowries in funds, to raise a revolution in his homeland and overthrow the Silver Prince's establishment and his remaining Abyssals.
200 red cowries isn't a trifling amount. You do a quick round of math in your head: that's about a thousand of your newly-minted gold florins, or thirteen thousand of the Guild's silver dinars. It's not exactly a king's ransom, but your coffers were already in dire straits, barely kept afloat by the Lintha treasure (most of it spent by now) and war loot from the Skullstonian invasion (most of which is in military hardware you're trying to put back into use, and so of no monetary value to you... quite the other way around, it's costing you money to have repaired!).
Leaving Mikahil's office, where you just gave him the (for him, rather unpleasant) news that you'll have to run Pearl's coffers even drier, you bite your lower lip.
You don't like to think that you're going to have to take Gem not just because it's your homeland, or to save your family, but also because it's a very rich city-state and you do need a vast amount of money for everything you're planning, short and long term.
That's the game, Amata would say.
You glance westwards through one of the many windows of your manse, lost in thought for a second. The sun is about to set.
(cont.)
>I should rest a bit and try to clear my head. Tomorrow we're leaving for Gem, after all.
>I should get on my Swift Rider and head to Tianna City. I need to speak with Amata.
>I should get on my Swift Rider and head to Tianna City. I need Amata to send an Infallible Messenger to the Gem infiltration team for me.
>Tia was feeling bored and is probably waiting for me in my room right now. I shouldn't keep her waiting too much.
>It's been a while since I saw Silk. I certainly hope she's behaving.
>Apparently Five Tails was panicking for some reason? Maybe I should look for her. Wonder what's up.
>I need to see Valeriana, Irene and Zaan, and hear from them how their work's progressing.
>I should get Karas, Rajan and Samiel in a room and hear their plans on how to organize our armed forces in greater detail.
>(Other?)
(at this point you could be doing anything, you're on your own schedule so you could write in whatever you want. These are just suggestions.)
>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a vast amount of allies and friends, and defeated every threat to Tianna up to now.
You recently discovered that Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress. Your forces have crushed the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Water, a Deathlord who tried to usurp its power for himself.
And now, on the day of your wedding, the Unconquered Sun Himself appeared to you and crowned you Princess of Creation, asking you to be an example for others in these dark times.

Orks need deepstrike, like a rok that does large blast or small body depending on how many units are inside but makes you roll for wounds on everyone if landing on a enemy unit
Orks just need more rules for looted vehicles.

After much bullshitting and joking, my group is finally running a heavy metal themed oneshot.
An up-and-coming metal band made of traditional metal-head fa/tg/uys, finally gets a big break opening for a real band. After the show, partying with the band amidst to groupies and booze, a strange old roady, in a trailing coat completely made of band patches, hands a dusty tome to your band, promising them to learn the heaviest lyrics, and the truth of metal from it.
The party goes on, and the band passes out, only to wake up in a new world. A darker world. A METAL world.
Using their /tg/ knowledge, cargo van full of weapons, pyrotechnics and amps, and mystically enhanced skills, they must journey through these brutal lands, mastering the arts of music, and bringing metal to the people, all while writing some kickass lyrics based on their journeys.
Who's played similar? Quest suggestions?

In the beginning, there was the world, and there were the ancient ones.
The Ancient Ones ruled the cold, dark earth and all that eked a living on it with the raw entropy. The act of survival was the only one, and many turned to these foul powers in worship to siphon it off for their own use. The three faces of the Ancient Ones were Death (the shadowy devourer), Black (The frozen end of all things) and Doom (the unquiet stillness). There were only those men who bound themselves to such powers, and those who tried to avoid and survive.
After some time, three paragons of these survivors arose. Through superhuman strength and leadership, they found that man has its own power and they called it Metal. These three scions rose to godhood, leading man against the Ancient ones and their servants. They no longer just survived, but flourished. The three were Power (the light that banishes the darkness), Folk (the warmth of the heart of man), and Speed (the wind that runs). They led man to carve out their own lands, and fight to this day.
(con't)
>>46822294
Fuck yes! I was hoping to see these treads again.
>>46822441
Music is the spirit of Metal, no matter for good or ill. Men of both sides and the beings of the world all use music to shape aspects of their lives. Herd beasts bellow baselines the swiften their metallic hooves, predators stun their prey with distorted bellows, and man alone created instruments to mimic the power of the gods and creatures.
Given time, all things come to harmony; even the most discordant static of a Industrialite will sync with the rest of the electric whine of its hive. Because of this, some people finds those who meet their tempo, and an instant bond is formed, combining their individual skills and powers into something more... The Band.
Bands are the great adventurers of the Metal Realm. They explore, they create, they fight and they are hailed as heros or villains by those drawn and affected by their music. No one knows how these form, only that they are the ones most likely to shape the world, and that band changing is a monumental occasion. Wary are those who see a band break up, or changes in a Band- such consequences can be great...

>Emotional Urging also isn't the same thing as Psychic Domination.
Yeah, she could have argued that at the local Consilium, the place such disputes are supposed to be resolved, but instead she mind controlled a bunch of kids to brutally kill another mage.
Lucy seems sort of whiny and self-centered. She's not particularly impressive as a mage. A Gnosis 3 Acanus with only Fate 2, Time 1, Mind 3, Prime 1 and Life 1. More than sufficient to have caught her cancer early and been treatable (even without magic), but not a particularly strong demonstration of commitment to the study of the Mysteries.
Even without the murder, it's no wonder she's not liked by local mages , she apparently has no mage contacts out of the area, and no one wants to help her without something significant in return (and she was at first willing to do some *very* questionable things for help).
I can only imagine how the Lucy Sulphate stories might have been spun if she wasn't based on a favorite PC of Wood Ingham.
Her Wisdom 7 also seems a little fishy.

Hello /tg/!
In this thread, you are invited to post a trauma that has occurred in your life, real or imagined, and in compensation, you will receive a thematically appropriate superpower.
The point of this is in order to easily generate interesting and personally fitting powersets for superhero RP. I'm personally operating off the Worm/Weaver Dice power philosophy but you are free to adapt what you receive to your system of choice.
Remember that when sharing, the "trigger event" as it were where you gain your abilities stems from the absolute "oh fuck" moment. If it was a slow build of awful shit in your life, it would be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I may not be the absolute fastest typer but I'll try to keep up and get to everybody.

Azure Striker Reporting in:
You have gained the ability to project incapacitating discharges of electricity, ban enough to get someone to shit themselves. These discharges are quite close range, but can be focused through conductive equipment like a bat or metal bar. While you are discharging electricity, you enter a state of temporary invulnerability, allowing you to essentially leap on and shock others without fear. This a Striker ability supplemented by a Breaker ability. The Striker ability is a result of the source of pain being very close to you (in your body) and the Breaker ability comes about as a result of the stress of the operation.
If you were a girl that adored Ravnica and you wanted to get one of the guild logos tattoed as tramp stamp, which one would you get?

Dimir would have to be subtle, probably incorporated with other tattoos. Boros looks like you're advertising that you're into fisting. I'm partial to Azorius and Golgari, with Simic and Izzet taking close second.
Also, dudes can get tramp stamps, too, though tramp stamps should be frowned upon no matter the gender of the tattooee.
Azorius: Illuminati confirmed.
Boros: "I am a white supremacist."
Dimir: Will get confused with Spiderman.
Golgari: Might be OK
Gruul: "I am a big fan of Survivor."
Izzet: "I regularly purchase dragon dildos."
Orzhov: Pretty neutral, but if you're even a bit superstitious, you can see how putting Orzhov marks on your body is a bad idea.
Rakdos: Kind of cool, but looks like a BDSM thing, which is not altogether untrue, so that's good?
Selesnya: "I am a new-age hippie. Also I'm Vegan."
Simic: As Selesnya, but a little bit less intense.
