This, plus a much bigger wealth allotment than a NPC of that level normally gets.

Considering a kingdom´s likely budget, you bet the monarchs and the heirs will rock some pretty solid magical gear.

My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

After a mostly fun day at a not-quite-amusement park, our good times have been shot right to hell by Irene's informing us of Faceless's latest move. Because of course I can't have a single day pass without SOMETHING bad happening.

At least it looks like we were able to keep my father from doing anything stupid. I hope.

Charlotte's in less-than-nice mode and Irene is too... if I let this continue, it's likely to end up as a fight and that's something that I -really- don't want to have to deal with on top of everything else that's going on.

Time to get to business.

"So," I clear my throat, "about that Faceless guy..."
"Oh yeah," Irene nods. "Him."

I was thinking about trying the same thing Kojima did at the end of MGSV to one of my players. Where one of my PCs isn't really who they've been playing all along. They were a separate person and without their consent were forced to take on the role of the person they've been playing so that the real person could take care of some project without distractions. The backstory my player had written up would end up being the memories their character was given to play their part. What do you think about doing this to someone? Do you think it'd be a good twist or could this backfire?

Look at the backlash regarding MGSVs ending and let that be your answer.
>>

They will notice except if they are normies who don't know bout videogames.
>>
We've had someone sort of do this willingly in a game, but I think making it like a secret twist will not go well.

Fact: By 2020, Hearthstone is going to kill the competitive scene for MTG. The secondary market will crash do to a sharp decrease in demand . Legacy is already dying in the US due to this reason. Hearthstone does MTG better. WOTC has no way to compete with the marginal value that Hearthstone provides to its players. I suggest you get out while you can.

Totally agree, Mah Nigga.
Unfortunately, most people that have spent over a few grand in cardboard won't agree, and will complain loudly.
>>
>>47192226
The common retort you get is that you can sell your magic cards. Yeah you can but you're now going to be spending most of your time following the MTG Stock market. You shouldn't have to sell out $200 every three months to continue playing a game competitively. Not when there are games that I can now pretty much play for free now. Games I can play wherever I am, at anytime I want. MTGO is boring as fuck to watch on Stream. Even fucking Kibler is all about the Hearthstone.

>Favorite 40k battles? Can both be in Fluff and on the TT

In Third Edition, I played a mission called "Breakout". One player set up in a narrow strip in the middle (by the long edges) of the board. His opponent split his army into two parts, and placed one part at either of the short edges. The player in the middle had to "break out" by getting a certain number of his units off one of the short edges.

So, my Blood Angels in the middle of the table faced an Imperial Guard army that consisted ENTIRELY OF INFANTRY MODELS.

It was so much fun. I *barely* won!

Played a small 500 point Eldar vs. GK match back in... 5th, I think?

I had mostly Guardians, he had Gray Knights with some sort of teleporting shenanigan HQ.

Still, I managed to hold 2 of the 5 objectives and get a squad of Guardians with a scatter laser onto the 3rd before his HQ squad barreled into them.

It looked pretty bleak, with all but 3 of the squad simply evaporating in the first round of combat while the GK took no wounds at all. I rolled the leadership test, pretty sure the game was over... DOUBLE ONES.

So combat continued into the very last turn of the game, my side. He takes his swings, rolls poorly, ends up with only two of three kills. My last, desperate Guardian, the scatter laser turret operator, takes his swing.

6.
6.

GK player decides to assign the wound to his HQ, for the 2+ armor save.

1.

Bob the Baker, hero of Iyanden, beat a Gray Knight Brother Captain to death with a scatter laser turret, shocking the Gray Knights into compliance long enough to force a stalemate.

Salute this foolish, brilliant elf.

My favorite fluff battle was an old story in some 3rdEd WD during the build up for the release of the redesigned Tyranids. It was a first-person story about a garrison of Imperial Guard defending a base from a Tyranid invasion. The protagonist explained it from the early stages of the fight, how mycetic spores looked like meteors in the distance, or the eerie calm before the battle. Or how before the sun set, you could see black clouds up in the sky that were actually massive swarms of Gargoyles. After nightfall, the protagonist ordered some guys on the wall to shine the flood-lights into the fields, and there were thousands upon thousands of Nids trying to creep forward in the darkness. The moment their cover was blown, the Nids rushed. The next page or two was a frantic fight from the ramparts of the walls, across a courtyard, up onto a central bastion-like fortification, fighting the next wave of Nids there, until the protagonist is one of a few survivors left, being driven inside the structure in an attempt to fall back.

The story had the action I know and love from older GW works, but also did an incredible job of building the sense of dread and inevitability the Nids' invasions have in the canon. Despite all of the efforts of the Guard, the protagonist knew that they were prolonging the inevitable. There was no escape, and every single one of them would die over the next few hours.

You are Sarah Karlsen, Valkyrie of Sweden, and daughter of Odin.

The forest around you is calm, covered in a light blanket of snow. Combined with the Finnish resistance fighters your group numbers nearly forty men, but you move quickly and with little noise. The Finns lead the way, commanded by a man named Elias. They move through the snow with practiced ease that leaves you envious. Though it's little trouble to wear, your combat gear isn't fit for traversing poor ground like this.

Thankfully it's not long before you reach the prison. However, a prison isn't quite the word for it. The encampment better resembles a mining camp, built into the side of a mountain. A number of different mining shafts are visible leading into the mountain, with various buildings filling the camp proper. Wrapped around the entire perimeter is a wooden barbed-wire fence, and guard posts stand scattered across the edges of the camp.

Within the camp, men and women alike toil under armed guard. Much of the forest surrounding the camp has been cleared away, meaning you and the others are forced to look on from a distance, hidden within the treeline. Taking the binoculars offered by Elias, you see that most of the guards wear regular Finnish Army uniforms. Alongside them are a handful of better armed, less friendly-looking gentlemen in beige uniform who appear to be in command, judging by their shouting and scowling.

"The Russians have funded every project and political party they can to keep the Independents in power," Elias says, his disdain clear. "The Empire pressures them from publicly increasing the military, so they stockpile in secret, with forced labor."

"Political prisoners?" Tobias asks.

"Veterans, monarchists, naysayers. Anyone against those in power unlucky enough to get caught, but fortunate enough to survive the experience," Elias answers.

"This isn't some far-flung outpost," Tobias murmurs. "That's over a hundred armed men in that camp, at least."

"Do they have Valkyries?" Elias asks, looking from him to you. "Our goal isn't to destroy it. Colonel Julius and his men, if they're still alive, are in there. We rescue them them, and our resistance lives to see another day."

"We're just meant to leave the others?" Emma asks, staring off at the camp. "They'll be worked to death if we leave them. Maybe worse, if they're still here after we're gone."

"We can't just leave them there," Anna adds hesitantly. "Sarah?"

"The longer we remain, the better the chance of enemy reinforcements arriving. Two to one odds I'll accept. Anymore, though..." Elias shakes his head. "Moving this many people into hiding would be a challenge, to say the least. Though, I admit, we could do well for the recruits. Whatever your choice, my men are at your disposal, Valkyrie. "

All of them look to you for an answer. Your stomach sinks.

Hmm. Shadow fits even better for Nemesis. Both because of the Shadow Realm, and because he hides the results of their actions from humans... So with that in mind, here is my proposed list:

The Chancellor: Greed (I'm also considering Wealth, since he also rules the Pantechnicon. Another kind of wealth there)
The Psychopomp: Mourning (He claims to control what comes after death)
The Nemesis: Shadow (Double meaning mentioned above)
The Raptor: Predation (Instinct might also fit fine)
The Prophet: Awe (In the traditional sense of course)
The Ruin: Despair (Nothing You Do Will Matter! Yeah, pretty despair-filled)
The Gate: Void (Iä! Iä! Chtulhu f'tagn!)

Now we just need to figure out mechanics for all these.
>>
>>47197488
Also, thinking on it, shouldn't the ruin and prophet switch Arcanas?

Fate feels a lot better for the one who rises above the rest, while Time fits better as the eventual destroyer of everything.
Destiny for one, "nothing lasts forever" for the other.

In my Mage games, Exarchs did a piss poor job at rewriting time line, and while Atlantis never existed, there are still plenty of ancient temples, sunken cities and sub-dimensions of ancient mages. Moreover, there are rumors that entire Altantis is existing in the depths of the Abyss, and many mages go full Scelesti to find real Atlantis with all it's magical secrets.

Previously you made a quick trip to Wong's, hiring him to find the missing bandit chief Neil, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. He offered to find him for free in exchange for doing a job for him, but you opted to pay cash instead.

Afterwrd you had a chat with your mechanics, Ruul and Wella, about what you could do to improve the ship. You agreed to creating a common room to have a place where crew can convene. Hopefully it will raise morale and invite more friendly relations between your men.

Then you headed up to your rooftop "garden" to chat with the dryad, Ay'ia. She mentioned that her gift to you would be ready soon, but also expressed concern over what she referred to as "malicious joy" emanating from your ship. Tabby. She also expressed a want for a way to communicate with crew while up on the roof and you promised her a radio to keep her in the loop.

You awoke the next day to find that there had been a high-profile murder committed in Ao; the wealthy trader woman you saw when you first came to the city, as well as her guards. Various signs pointed to Tabby being the culprit, including her leaving the ship under cloak of night and returning after the murder was said to have taken place. Not to mention eye witness reports from Kakei's spies, whom you demanded come forward and help you with the investigation.

After learning of this, you took Tabby to your quarters to speak to her about what she did while she was gone, only to find that she had, in fact, left the ship to commit murder.

Welcome back to Beast in the Sky Quest!

You stand there, mouth agape, at Tabby's words. Her sobs cutting through her words, her body shaking and her eyes pleading with you. She looks like she's trying to figure out how to go about explaining herself, but a mix of fear, shame and distress are preventing her. She eyes the door nervously, but quickly turns her attention back to you. Could she be thinking of fleeing?

"So, uh... There anyplace around here I could find a Guiding Ring?" Hal asks Rene a few days into traveling with her. "I, uh... All my studies say I need it to become a Sage or a Mage Knight, but... Shit, Methodius probably could've hooked me up." Though the newly-joining thunder mage is kind of an idiot, Methodius vouched for his skills, so... Rene will just have to make sure things work out. It's nice to see Veiz making a whole new rival, though, someone she can focus on bettering her magic purely to one-up. Rene's her immeasurable height for archery, so this guy can be that for...

"Hey, thanks, little guy," Hal says, Omar generously offering him a Guiding Ring in the middle of Rene's reflection on him. "Wait... You studied at the Tower, right? I remember you, I think! Mario, right?"

As Hal becomes the least sagely Sage of all time, Samson remains without a staff-user as he and his commandeered prison boats set off into the Southern Islands. Dough has proven to be a loyal sub-commander since resolving his issues with Samson, one he's quite comfortable leaving in charge of missions he can't be the one to lead. Still, though, setting out to sea with worries of the Dories and the Empire stopping him wherever he may head first is still quite a bit for the leader to mull over...

Dyrus, meanwhile, has seen his mother's rebellion make peace with the third faction of the desert's conflict, their alliance leading to an all-out assault as his "hello again" to human civilization. Chief Paisley has no interest in avoiding a confrontation with Director Cato like Denim did, and word is that she and her entourage are already en route to intercept our heroes at their first stop. All he can do is train and be merry as the day for him to trade blows with the second regional Director draws nearer.

Did anyone think they wouldn't?

I'm hoping each splat will have more material that can be used by the other exalt types. The charms won't be transferable, but spells and artifacts would be nice, and we can be absolutely certain that the five dragon styles will appear in the DB book. I think the devs said they'd basically be the same power level as the ones in the core book, but with no Terrestrial or Mastery keywords.

Personal favorite Haunt is Voodoo. It is one of the most tense first-time haunts, watching your stats slowly dwindle away

>randomly move around
>place random tiles
>find random loot
>randomly start haunt
>random player becomes random baddie
>with random wincondition
>did you guys randomly find the baddie-beating mcguffin?
>role some dice
>maybe you win

I'm not saying it can't be a fun experience with the right people, but it is a categorically shit-awful game.
