What's the best or oddest pet you've allowed or have been allowed to keep in game?

What can a chapter of marines actually do?
I mean depending on what you read, they can conquer an entire planet, an entire solar system by themselves?
Marines are tough sure, but they still die. Surely over the course of trying to take an entire planet, they'd be whittled down to almost nothing even by rudimentary defences.
How do 1000 marines take an entire planet? It seems tactically infoesible. Are we to assume the Space Marines are always the tip of the sword, usually followed up by a few million guardsmen who do all the actual fighting?

Well they wouldn't be fighting the entire planet's forces at once. Planets are huge, so the enemy is spread out across a massive area. In any area where the Marines operate, they are a dramatically superior force. They would probably avoid engaging massed enemy forces for that very reason.
This does bring up a good point though. Conquering a planet might take decades. Suicide bombers could probably take out a marine or two if they got...

Least favourite might be the Stormraven. I just can't ignore how stupid those wings look. At least the design has improved a bit with the Stormtalon and Stormhawk.

The Ork and Dark Eldar ones are great.
IG, Eldar, Necron and Tyranid ones are all perfectly okay. The Heldrake as well if you like the aesthetic.
It's only really the Space Marine flyers that are genuinely awful.

In D&D, half-celestials and aasimar actually have it far rougher than pure mortals.
They are expected to be Good, their nature demands it of them, and so the standard of their life's judgment is higher than the neutral-inclined free will folk. Being Good means being selfless and helpful in many cases, and so they must strive and sacrifice, and battle against Evil at every turn. And if they fall, they fall much harder than the other races; a dark celestial is essentially a new fiend.
So they find that they have to work harder for less reward, and face far worse...

If you could remake the Horus Heresy and choose what legions were on each side, with who would you make each of them side?
Also, given your list, who would you put in Horus's position if he stays loyal or if he isn't the warmaster?

I think between comfortable players in a group which is okay with exploring it, romance is a great way to deepen character bonds or generate characterization and story.
That said, not everyone is going to want to do so, and you should respect that.
I mostly RP online with groups of mature players who understand what we're doing is communal storytelling, and that romance is a classic part of stories. As such, when romance is appropriate we don't shy away from it, whether between PC's or with NPC's. It's even provided the basis for a few interesting plot hooks or twists before.
What are magic qualities a shield can have besides being a mirror?

I've been wondering why there isn't a larger variety of sci-fi kinds of food in settings.
Fantasy has loads of edibles that blend real world food with fantasy ingredients, yet the most advanced sci fi seems to get are food bars/pills/paste.
Where's the extravagance, the variety? Surely there has to be more than just processed, nutrient dense organic shapes.

This is for a reason. When traveling in space, you are limited by many different considerations. A fantasy adventurer only needs to carry a few things to get by; a bedroll, a blanket a pot, and a knife/hatchet will serve in 90% of cases. Food is everywhere, as is water, and it's unlikely you'll be totally screwed unless you have no survival skills and even then it's likely there's a settlement...

What sort of things would arise on a world that already has a ready source of alien grains and vegetation palatable to us? That's what I'm not seeing, and what I'd like to see more of.
Lets say a paladin character was trapped in a special dungeon by a lich. He is given one key and an ultimatum - he can use the key to unlock an unbreachable cage holding his entire family OR he can save a village of strangers, some children, some saints, with a mix of pedos and rapists in there too. The cages cannot be entered or manipulated in ANY way to free the prisoners except by using the key. The key itself will disintegrate the moment it is used and will simultaneously open the sealed exit to the dungeon.
HOWEVER. The occupants from the cage NOT selected will immediately...
