Recently: You're battling the fourth and final Elite Four member, Geno. Aria hurt her voice from pushing too hard.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

This is a nice quest.

Destiny is out and doing great. She just gracefully dodged the opposing Dragonite's Thunder Wave.

Your inner doubt, Dark Kat, has surfaced. But screw her! You won't let your self-doubt trip you up. You owe it to your Pokemon not to let that happen

You do a quick mental checklist to regain our focus.

Ancalagon (Garchomp) - Out
Saphira (Dragonite) - Damaged
Desghidorah (Noivern) - Out
Rhaegal (Salamence)
Fin Fang Foom (Tyrantrum)
Shenron (Flygon)
Altaria (Altaria)

The only Pokemon of yours to suffer a knockout is Aria.

The arena is balanced. There are a few small ponds here and there, two remaining small bushy and tree-filled areas that are good for hiding in, and two rocky areas near each battler.

Destiny is in the pond that has a covering of leafs. If she were to dive, she’d have visual cover.

That Dragonite seems to be pretty beefy. Like all of Geno’s Pokemon, it’s also very fast and excellent at landing critical hits.

>Smokescreen, lower its accuracy
>Bubble, you might lower its speed
>Outrage, out dragon the dragon master
>Scald, you can burn it!
>Signal Beam, a confuse chance
>Ice Beam, it’s the most effective move ehre
>Rain Dance, great for Swift Swim
>Hydro Pump, try to knock it from the air
>Dragon Pulse! Freeze it out of the sky!
>Agility, get really, really fast
>Hide in the water and use Shell Smash. Pump offensive power at the expense of defence
>Whirlpool, trap it.

The sun rises over the forest you call home, illuminating everything and ushering in the start of a beautiful new day.

In the small building where you've lived all of your life, you sit up in your bed, stretching your arms and yawning as you take a quick look around your room. Everything is right where you left it last night; your canteen is on the dresser across the room, along with your only other set of clothes.

You hop out of bed and walk over to the dresser, changing and grabbing your canteen before heading outside.

You've been alone here for a while. Four years ago, when you were eight, your parents were killed by some creature. Since then, you've been left to fend for yourself.

Your name is Tofoo, and this is the beginning of your adventure.

>>Information

This quest, as the title suggests, takes place in the world of Dragon Ball. You're playing as a twelve year old boy named Tofoo, and will adventure through the story of the Dragonball series alongside characters such as Goku, Yamcha, Bulma, Tien, and many others. Through your actions, you can make significant changes to the story, and perhaps even become the strongest fighter on Earth.

>Rules

At the end of each update you'll have ten minutes to vote on options. Write-ins are allowed, but I do reserve the right to veto them.

Rolls will be used on certain occasions, such as attempting a technique for the first time or attempting something extremely difficult. You will have three rolls, and if one succeeds, you succeed. There are no crits.

I hope everyone has fun.
>>
You step out of your home and take a look around. You can hear the birds singing in the trees, and see a few of them flying high above you.

You don't see any other animals, but experience has shown you that they are usually close by. And many encounters with them have made you stronger than most of them.

A rumbling in your stomach tells you that it's time for breakfast.

You know of a tree that bears delicious fruits nearby, which would make for an easy meal. But, you also know there are plenty of animals good for eating to be found.

Then again, you're a little thirsty. Maybe you should go to the creek and fill up your canteen.

“Everyone clear on the plan?” asks Griselda. The now six-crew strong team has assembled by LGA’s reserved spot in the Spectator’s Fair, where all of you were sitting on tables eating food and drinking as much water as possible (it gets incredibly hot and sweaty inside of a tank, hydration is important). You all nod, shrug, or just remain quiet with no questions. “… M’kay. Well, if anyone has any questions, refer to me or refer to Elodie.”

Regina Taney, the leader of the new crew “Naval Studies Rescue” leans over towards you. “Do you happen to know how to assemble two-piece ammunition in the IS-2?”

Iris raises a finger as well. “How do you propose the Churchill climb up the left flank to overlook Route 15? Did you want us moving towards that location quickly or should we just take our time? I don’t imagine we’ll be very fast.”

“Can we discuss how FUCKING AWESOME US armor is?! The M26 Pershing, the M4A3E8s, all that jazz!?” asks Patton. Suvorov looks at her gunner strangely. “What!? You’re the Napoleonic one, you shouldn’t even know what the fuck tanks are!”

Winona browses her phone as she sits next to you, smirking. “A couple of guys on the Skycraft team wanted to know if you’re single~!” she says in a singsong manner. OH YOU KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT FUCKING QUESTION AND SHE SURE AS HELL DOES TOO.

The Crown Prince has spent much of his years training under the best swordsmen and duelists the Crown could afford from around the world in a great many artstyles and teachings, but hasn't seen true combat until he turned into his early 20's today.

He goes up against a veteran sell-sword, a mercenary with two decades of fighting experience, primarily as a swordsman, and near as many years older than the prince. He's fought in three wars and lived to tell the tale.

Both end up having to fight each other and , for reasons, are wearing similar equipment and armor. Who has the advantage?

I'd guess the sellsword fucks him up hard. Dirty tricks and hidden weapons as opposed to the nice, "ideal" teachings for the prince.

The sellsword knows how to close distance and take false blows that don't hurt in order to get a serious strike on his enemy, and has been practicing doing whatever it takes to win for years.

So Imperial Veterans is in the catalog as 'SWX52'
Heroes of the Resistance is in the catalog as 'SWX57'
So we're missing four numbers. I'm thinking Disney leaned on FFG to preview a bunch of their Force Awakens stuff early for May 4th, which accelerated or threw their planned production schedule out of whack.

So we're missing Rebel Vets (SWX53), Scum Aces (SWX54), Scum Vets (SWX55) and Villains of the First Order (SWX56). Thoughts?
>>
I just ordered the Force Awakens X-Wing box. Is it worthwhile to run another T-70 if I got Rebel?

I was thinking 2 T-70 and another ship? I don't know anything about the game. so any pointers would be appreciated.

This is what you know:

Once upon a time, the world ended. Your name is Lupa, and you were born in the Ashes.

Your mother was a junkie who tried to roll the wrong man. The man, Pytor, killed her with a crowbar, and adopted you. You and he salvaged the ruins of the world. Piton kept you as you had a knack for repairing things, and understood the forgotten written language of the Civilization that used to be. The pair of you traded with the large settlements: the military-run multi-farm colony of Genesis, and the large ranch owned by the religious group known as the Confessors.

You survived, and had a full stomach, and a warm place to sleep, more nights than you didn’t. A fair accomplishment in this world.

Then you salvaged some old relics from a forgotten museum, and everything in your world changed. Including you.

Once upon a time, the world had a team of magical girls in it. They fought a secret war against monsters one year, and witches the next, then Misery came. Misery was an invader, whether from another dimension or the stars, it doesn’t matter. She was good at it though, and the magical girls were losing. Until one of them did the only thing she could, she told her secret, and her father was part of the military. The world fought back, adapted, and won. After that, nothing was the same, and Magic (Known now as Clean Energy), and Magical Girls (Known as Joy-In-Hearts) were now everywhere, and a fundamental part of the world.

And you are one of the last. Your name is also Joy-In-Ashes. The artifacts that belonged to the first magical girl reawakened the energy within you, allowing you to change, and do terrible and wondrous things. It also opened your eyes to one of the biggest threats that the old world left for you.

They’re called Hubris, at least that’s what the voice in your head calls them. Creatures created from the fallout of magical ‘Clean Energy,’ and invisible to most eyes. They’re small insect-like creatures that seek out water to drink, and humans so they can burrow into them. Hollowing them out and turning them into Hives, so more Hubris can hatch within them. It’s unsure if infection from Hubris makes humans hostile and irritable, or if Hubris prefer to seek out hostile and irritable humans. The answer seems to be a bit of both.

Of course, the Hubris are only just as threatening as any of the other Altered animals that exist in this world. It’s not too hard to deal with them, especially now that you can see them. Humans are always the worst threat to other humans. As one of the last magical girls alive, you have very specific human threats.

They are called the People of Joy, and they’re the descendants of the people who remember the days of magic and wonder. It seems that most of humanity now consists of the lower rungs of society, people who were unable to benefit from ‘Clean Energy’s’ ability to improve bodies and minds. Some of the ‘Accepting’ did survive though. Once they were kind, and led by a man named Gaft. However, he was overthrown in a coup, and barely escaped with his life. Apparently, he went and found you. He was in the museum, and gave you the relics that Awoke your Joy. You’re not sure how you want to ‘thank’ him for that, when you see him next.

Either way, now his former followers are after you, and anyone else that was capable of turning into a Magical Girl, for reasons that are mildly unclear and deeply unsettling. In Genesis Settlement, there was a girl named Emily who could do just that. Thankfully, you got to her first, and saw her emerge as Joy-In-Embers. Embers…was utterly useless in combat. She could barely hit the side of a barn, if she was standing next to it…trying punch it. You had to teach her almost everything, and you knew so very little. That might be the explanation as to how the People of Joy managed to kidnap the both of you.

You both managed to escape, but not before your kidnappers brought you far from your familiar territory, miles away from anyone who could be friendly. Thankfully, that was when Voice contacted you over the radio. She said that she was trapped within an area that was soaked in Clean Energy Fallout, which was fatal to normal humans, but harmless to Joy-In-Hearts. She needed help, and Voice said that she had supplies, technology, maps to get you back to Genesis, and answers.

You traveled toward’s Voice’s location, and went through a city that was filled with people. People who were all infected by Hubris. However, they were all acting strangely, and unlike the usual Hubris Hives that you’d seen. It turned out it was due to them all being under the control of a Joy-In-Heart that had been infected by Hubris just before her own awakening. Her mind and powers were scrambled, but still desperately trying to keep everyone alive. You were able to purify the girl, and save her and her ‘followers.’ She had no memory of her pre-Joy identity, her mind scrambled by the Hubris, and went by her title of ‘Joy-In-Ruin.’ She joined you and Emily, being slightly better at combat than Joy-In-Embers, and the three of you continued towards Voice.

While you were doing this, Pytor was attempting to track you down. He was joined by Raymond, a Confessor boy who ‘knew’ you (biblically) and carried a torch for you; and Amelia, a Genesis soldier who was sent to spy on Pytor, and discover what was the secret behind the Ash-covered girl with incredible powers. They ran into the People of Joy, who were also looking for you, and thanks to guidance from Voice, began a three-person war against them. During their fighting Raymond discovered that he was one of the new ‘Accepting’ and found his vision, and reaction time, becoming sharper and sharper. Amelia was infected by Hubris, and underwent a procedure that the People of Joy performed on a chosen few of themselves. It saved her life, and made her capable of working artifacts that ran on Clean Energy, but made her skin, and body fluid, a walking toxic hazard.

The People of Joy threw quite a bit at you, including other girls who could manipulate Clean Energy, who had forcibly enhanced into being Joy-In-Hearts by the People of Joy. It appeared that there were two camps, one that wanted to capture you, and one that wanted to outright kill you. As you managed to slaughter their agents with the blades you could summon from your ashes, the second camp slowly grew to be the louder voice.

You arrived at Voice’s compound, and discovered that she wasn’t lying. She was indeed trapped by fallout, and had a fantastic trove of everything a scavenger could hope for. What’s more was that she wasn’t just another survivor, but a survivor from Before the End, and that she was a former Joy-In-Heart. One of the very first teams, the one known as ‘Joy-In-Thought,’ although she went by Wren these days. She had survived by turning her body nearly completely robotic. She then revealed to you two very large revelations.

A werewolf who doesn't kill won't burst into flames or vanish in a puff of smoke, so in that sense they don't have to. But it gets under their skin. Avoiding the hunt is denying all your instincts, that inclination toward bestial rage and violent dominance that fills the Uratha. It wears at your self-control, it threatens your Harmony, it's demoralizing and agitating. It's like a normal person giving up sex, or social contact, or adhering to a strict diet of rice and chicken breast and absolutely nothing else forever and ever.

It's doable, but you're miserable during it and very likely to snap at some point- more explosively, for a werewolf, given the Harmony shifting opens them up to the risk of Basu-Im.

Well now I'm thinking that I've never played a game with extensive time travel, much less a setting based around it, and that would probably be pretty cool.

But sure, I'll play along with the topic. I guess I hate it when "adventurer" is an occupation but there's no attempt made to explain how wandering mercenaries of all trades came to be or why people use them in preference to someone operating in a more official capacity.

Terimies for my deathwatch band. Bases are for a space hulk so some guys are standing on walls.
Some moldlines still need removing and I'm waiting for the shoulder pads.

It's not for a sci-fi setting, but I could use some help.

I need help fleshing out and expanding the magic in my setting. To be more specific, I'd like to add more types of magic.
As of now, my magic is mostly rune based and comes in three flavors:
-Standard runes: runes added to objects to endow them with power (belt of strength, sword of speed, etc). Runic objects are time consuming to make and scale in power parallel to the cost of the item itself (belt with gold and diamonds would be stronger than a leather belt even with the same rune applied).
>Scrolls/Binding: sort of related to runes. This involves binding a spirit or spell into an object, typically a scroll or staff (staffs would have room for multiple powers). Releasing the binding casts the spell or gives control of the spirit for a limited time.
>Woad/Runic Tattoos: similar to regular runes, these are applied directly to the flesh of a person. The mixing of blood and ink gives the user great control over the use of the rune's power, but unlike regular runes these fade with use. Using a rune of strength as an example, this would be like giving a character a pool of 100 "strength." They can cash in some of that strength at any time, but the more they use at once the faster it goes away. Spells can also be applied via tattoo, but "miscasting" is much more dangerous.
I like this system because it encourages players to plan ahead. It's like D&D wizards cranked up to 11; instead of having spells refresh daily after an hour of studying a spellbook, you get a larger number of much more powerful magic, but will be limited to what you start with for most of the campaign, unless you're characters take a month off to revamp their gear.

In all these cases, the more experienced a character is with the specific rune the more powerful it becomes when THEY use it.

I'm also toying with an innate magic ability system that works a bit like demi-gods from Greek Myth.

Something like Hercules being super strong. Characters descended from certain bloodlines can get a single magical ability, like speed or speaking to animals or being immune to fire.

I'd also like to include some more traditional magics, but need to work them so that they compliment and compete with the above types without overshadowing them.

I'm planning on including necromancy in some capacity (I have an idea for the first campaign I'd run), and might use some divine casting split between getting power from gods or classic-style demons.

The setting itself is all-human, with ancestor-based polytheism for most religions.

I'm open for ideas and suggestions.

You should always include wbg in the title to make it easier to search the catalog and for an SF theme thread include the nasa globe map projector:

http://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/gprojector/

Making a Sci-Fi themed Ethnographical questionnaire would be helpful too.

In any case, I'm working out how to make a space dragon/leviathan. It is to be a Terran ship whose AI has gone somewhat insane and is blaming every alien race for the disappearance of the human race. It has rebuilt its body as a massive weapon capable of extreme speed and maneuverability that can be matched only by other pure AI ships with ancient tech at their disposal. It "preys" on ships in its territory and when it encounters an planet with an advanced alien race on it, it smashes it back into the stone age to make them suffer instead of immediate genocide.

It has also been hoarding scraps and artifacts of imperial Terran technology at an old colony world system, hoping to one day find Terrans again and they would need the tech to rebuild. For comparison its like a non-reproducing Berserker in terms of combat, its technology makes it unbeatable in combat, more a force of nature. I have to decide on the basic architecture and systems it uses.

Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!

Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!

>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use. A majority of activity (including campaigns) instead happens in the IRC, which is open for newbies to join.
Characters can be rolled with either the CYOA's purple PDF which is intended as a writing prompt and is in the process of developing an independent auxiliary combat system, or AMGC's blue pdf which contains combat rules for PNP campaigns along with the rolls.

Introducing the MGCYOA Supplementary Combat System v1.1!

Created at roughly the same time as AMGC, the SCS allows players to easily take characters made in the CYOA v1.4 and use them in Quests and long-running campaigns alike.

This PDF covers the basics of magical girls and sets the groundwork for future updates (which will include Patrons, DMGs, and Monster Girls). Additionally, plans have already been made to update alongside the CYOA v1.5 update which will be coming soon.
