In all seriousness though, I think this would be an interesting match up. Both are fairly balanced as far as Space Marine chapters go, though the Blood Ravens have an excessive amount of psykers. Both are tactically flexible and don't really specialize in anything. And both are main protagonists. So who would win?
Assume both chapters are at full strength. Gabriel Angelos is Chapter Master of the Blood Ravens however.

Now I'm just picturing a scene where the two armies are having a stare down, with the camera shifting back and forth. However, every time the camera shifts back to the Ultramarines, they have less weapons and gear while the Blood Ravens get progressively more.

Nobody said they would sell better than SM. They would, however, likely sell more than Dark Eldar, which got a massive update, SoB don't.
The assumption is GW will update them when the stuff is sold. Immolator is sold out, so, maybe they'll be sold out soon.

hey /tg/, I'm sure this question has been asked before but what system would you use to run a transformers game? I found a homebrewed thing by searching on google but it felt too...mechanics heavy, and combat oriented. I'm really just looking for a game that manages to divide a character in half, and each side has access to different abilities and are not neccessarily equal.

Like I want something where the robot mode and alt mode are separate, and the characters can do different things depending on their mode.
I can recommend a few options:
>Mutants & Masterminds (or another superhero system)
These usually have lots of options for "alternate form" powers, where your character switches between two forms and has different powers in each form.

I've already considered M&M, but i'm not sure how to properly divide away the alt mode power options. best I could come up with was slap it all into a "device" and then...the value of the drawback grows the longer it takes to change modes or something.

I've noticed that while there seem to be people who're interested in the game, there aren't that many, and the thread occasionally slips off the bottom of the board while there's still some interest. I'll stop reposting it when there's none.
As always, feedback is more than welcome. Thanks to the anon in the previous thread who said he'd playtest it, and also thanks to everyone who likes the system or even just enjoyed reading it.
And here's the expansion-cum-player's guide.
It's fully written, but there might very well still be some balance issues and weird inconsistencies.
It's a fun read, though I notice that it shares this and one other trait with Nobilis - after reading it, I'm not quite sure what to do with it.

It's actually playable - I've done it with my own group twice. The soak mechanic might need a bit of tweaking, but otherwise I haven't run into any problems. It runs pretty smoothly, and the Edge mechanic works a lot better in practice than I thought it would.

My character had the macguffin of the campaing and the GM, after coup de gracing my character, remembered that the monsters don't attack the guy with the macguffin (thing that we didn't know though). Coup de gracing is already a That GM move specially when there're other PCs alive and well attacking, double specially when the creature provoked 2 AoO for that action, more so when he tolds us then that monsters shouldn't have attacked me on the first place.
So, in my book, that seems like he fucked up.
Is Age of Sigmar worth it? I want to get into Warhammer, and I'm willing to drop the money for it, but I was just wondering if other people play it so I don't end up just having a large army bound to eternal shelf life.

Its alright. The OG WFB community hates it, though, so dont expect a positive response from /tg/. You do you. If you like it, play it. If you dont have anybody to play with in the area, get others into it.
Trial it with friends at a local game store using a few house minis. If theyre hungry for sales, theyll accomodate. Better than dropping a couple hundred on starting a game youll never play
I was thinking about how I usually fumble when trying to explain RPGs to non-players.
It got me thinking about what the most basic qualities of an RPG should be. I figured it was pretty personal, so an explanation of RPGs was always going to be just the perspective of whoever was describing them.
The most basic description I came up with was that it's a game involving a group of people telling a character-driven story, and setting their own personal win conditions.
Is there anything I'm leaving out?

A bunch of people gather together to tell an interactive story. One person controls the world of the story, the other people control one main character each. The players describe what their characters do, and the GM describes how the world reacts. To ensure that the main characters are not infallible, when a character attempts an action that may fail, their player rolls some assortment of dice, according to a system agreed upon prior to starting. The GM also rolls dice under this system.

See, this already contains a lot of subjective preferences as well.
The division between a game master and players isn't strictly necessary. The most ubiquitous RPGs have it, but you limit yourself if you consider it a Universal Thing That Should Be Done.
The same goes for the reference to dice. There are diceless games that you might still consider RPGs. Mentioning them in your 'starting bid' of a general description of RPGs already starts to limit the listener's ability to form...

It should honestly be wisdom; you are manipulating the tumblers and looking for subtle clues they've been opened. The motor control is secondary to this.

Dexterity, in most games that have such a stat, is really just a stand in for literally naming the stat Rogue-ish Things Number, or at least the physical half of it, with Charisma being the other half.
So doing rogue-ly things with your fingers falls under Dexterity, since they couldn't justify it under Charisma and didn't want to split Rogue Things between 3 stats.

The rules for this system have been done for ages, but everyone treats them like some impossibly complex crunch system you need a graphing calculator to handle. It's not.

I've read the LoZ RPG stuff on 1d4chan before and I agree that it is dumb and bad.
The one thing I'd take issue with on your pastebin is the notion that non-combat actions don't need mechanics. I don't think that's necessarily a good approach, especially for a Zelda game where puzzle solving and travel in general is a major part of the game itself. In contrast, combat in most Zelda games is fairly simple. Some games are more complex than others (TP with its various maneuvers, SS with its fencing), but generally as much if not more effort is put into traversing the world and solving puzzles as defeating your enemies. Balancing the game too far in the direction of combat is not true to the games.
That said I don't really believe it's even possible to create a tabletop game that fully captures the experience of playing a LoZ game, purely because traditional Zelda puzzles would be extremely tedious to play out with dice and paper-- yet without them you don't have a Zelda game.

The design methodology was to treat combat as puzzles, in a sense. A robust system was made to support every combatant type they could, and the challenge is things like, getting in a fight with eight stalfis and figuring out whos soulbound with who, kiting the tanks and chasing down spear guys and what not.
Because how could you possibly make a rules system for exploring a dungeon to find keys to do sliding block puzzles. What rules would you implement that wouldnt just handcuff the Sage?
