/tg/, how would a setting work that has FTL communications, but only Near Light Speed travel?
Planets can instantly communicate information to each other, but deliveries and transportation are limited by near light speed travel with the associated time dilation "2 months travel through space, 20 years pass where you left".
How would deliveries, travel, immigration, and warfare work in such a setting?

What does your gaming group look like? Give us a roster.
How often do you guys get together?
Do you have just one, or do you bounce between tables?
And the big question, of course:
If you could change something about your group, BESIDES how often you get to play, what would it be?And why aren't you changing it?

My current group is running a 5e game, but due to the summer shaking up everyone's schedule we haven't met for a month or so, which is a shame - I was enjoying the game. I only tend to have one group for any given time, but since I don't always want to DM, I find myself joining other tables from time to time.
The current lineup is,
Myself - Large bearded viking (also large-bearded viking) and Usually-DM, currently playing a Half-Elf Dex Paladin with rapier and shield. She's Lawful Evil, with the Oath of the Crown, and doing her absolute best not to be an edgelord about it. She is, simply, a pragmatic person.
Girlfriend - Slender Goth with a Natalie Dormer Undercut. Good at playing brash yet honest characters. Currently playing a human STR Paladin, but also spec'd to sword and board - we've got the feats to form a two-man shield wall and make a hard point on the battlefield.
Roommate - Younger guy, just turned 21 or so. Lifetime of Irish step dance, plays guitar. Currently playing a Half-Elf Ranger who has succeeded in making exactly zero shots - but at least he's got good humor about it.
Friend - Stocky, good-natured guy with curly hair and bad luck with women (though who the fuck am I to call someone "stocky"). Playing the dwarf barbarian, who has just been going apeshit on some Duergar jailers to get us out - strength score like a motherfucker.
DM's girlfriend - Young (21), trendy-ish, dyed hair and artsy clothes. Salty-mouthed and hard-drinking, gets naked (not during game nights) often enough for it not to be a thing anymore. Playing a half-orc warlock with an undead pact, has been the most in-character so far.
DM - Slender guy, runner's build, tattooed and easily excited. His first time running a game, and he's doing a pretty good job so far - a good enough job that I want to encourage him.
Bump, I've been trying to get a first group together myself and I'd be interested to see what the typical group looks like

I also size my tokens to 90% the square so you can see the background and make small creatures smaller to give a distinct size difference.
How can you have a BBEG be Lawful Good, Neutral Good, or Lawful Neutral without making the Player Party a bunch of baby-eating rapists, murder hobos, mindless monsters, and edgelords? Is that possible at all, even if you take the "BE" out of BBEG?
I'll say it again, BBEG. Not duty or honor bound Captains or underlings just doing their job. Main antagonists.

Hey, so I've been playing different stuff over the years, starting with D&D 3.5, and currently in 2 games and running one, although due to these being with university friends sessions can be rather sporadic sometimes.
Some friends from outside of uni want to try out roleplaying games, already wanting a first session next weekend, but the only systems i'm familiar with enough to feel secure running with them are either relatively rules- or lore-heavy, especially for newcomers only familiar with dice systems like monopoly houserules.

If you want traditional fantasy there are a few options. Dungeon World isn't my favourite game, but its easy to teach and has very useful character sheet handouts for everyone. Its different to gm, but nothing too complicated. That being said, even mentioning it will probably derail your thread. Alternatively there's Beyond The Wall which has a similar focus on easy to use character sheets, but has a really well put together collaborative village/character/plot generation that's worth looking at...

mfw I want to DM an ASOIAF game with a group of players where each will play someone in the house but I doubt I will be able to find players with the lore knowledge I want them to have.
It's 20-fucking-16. The Internet allows high-speed instant communication through your choice of text, voice, video, or any combination thereof. There are other people out there that want to play games, on sites dedicated to people who play or want to play games, with schedules that match up to yours. The only reason you don't have people to play with is stubbornness, laziness, or impatience.

I want some sort of battle focus style rule for the DE, that lets them be more mobile, like their craftworld kin.
Not an exact copy of that rule though.
Maybe something that lets them charge after running, or allows them to charge trough cover without any disadvantages.
