Welcome to the world of Shadowrun, you'll get along swimmingly.
Last week I had an idea to run a prehistoric fantasy campaign using5eas the base system since that's what I'm comfortable GMing for right now, set around the neolithic era and I had a discussion with a friend to iron out some details of the world aswell as the circumstances of the players, so far, we've mostly been limiting things so it'll fit the era, I'm not an experienced worldbuilder so I'd like to get some advice on areas I might've forgotten, should expand upon and so on.

Well look at how shit the U/G one was. They made all of the new cycle of lands one mana too expensive to basically make them unplayable. Basically everything the last two sets has been shit and the only reason it's selling is because of full art lands and dumbasses trying to pull expeditions.

The same way you play any other compelling character. Give them a goal, put an obstacle in the way of that goal. Even if the goal is something as mundane as living a comfortable life (even this can hold alot of appeal for character who have clawed their way out of bad situations like slavery or a past filled with soldier's regrets.)

I've been playing a lot of Dark Souls lately and always look to incorporate things I like from it into games I DM.
One of those things is the recurring NPC's who move around and pop into the game as you slowly learn more about them.
What are some of the best recurring NPCs that you guys have had in a game and what do you think NPCs like that have to have to be a good addition to the game?

I have an NPC I basically bring into any fantasy game I run. A cosmic being showing up as an orc woman of unnecessarily beautiful looks while always covering her face. The key to any good NPC is to make sure they DON'T TAKE THE SPOTLIGHT FROM THE PLAYERS.
Make them interesting, make them friendly, and make them survivable if your PC's are murderhobo's but don't make them the star.
