Underrated Monsters.

The 3.5 Fiend Folio had a ton of those.
>Blood Golem
>Kaorti
>Ethergaunts
>flying demon sharks
>Keepers (even though they were carried over from Planescape I still think they're underrated)
is there any particular reason why Charisma should be a stat in the first place? shouldn't that fall more on the roleplaying part rather than the stat-o-vision realm?
if a player can make a decent argument or intimidation one-liner in-character that there's no possible way the NPC argues with it, why should they be punished or dismissed if they have no points in charisma or any sub-branch of it?
i guess it could help you out if you have no IRL social skills or some kind of speech impediment or you're just unable to improvise in-character, but in that case why are you even playing tabletop RPGs in the first place?
it's beyond me

>Copypasta replacing Cha with Str, Int, Dex, etc.
Sorry, OP, can't be arsed.
Even if you, as a player, come up with a really good argument, it doesn't mean your character would be capable of formulating or executing it. You aren't your character.
>>44275209
Because it would be down to the GM to be "convinced" and that would never happen.
The game makers knew what they were doing.
Lorgar in Dembski's First Heretic:
>Thoughtful
>Insightful
>Faithful
>Humble (even when he is in his duel with Corax and Curze saves him)
>Serious
>Idealistic
>Passionate
>Paternal to his sons
Lorgar in Abnett's Know No Fear:
>Volatile in a childish way
>Moustache twirling
>Snarky
>Passive-aggressive
>Selfish sounding
>His lines are capeshit tier to contrast and big up equally as capeshitty goody girlyman's dialogue
What was Abnett thinking?
>>44275208
He wasn't. It's poor Abnett. GW has him tied up in their cellar and they whip him whenever he nods off writing his backlog of ten novels.

Fulgrim in Fulgrim:
>Charismatic
>An excellent strategist and leader
>Near Perfection
>Epic bromance with Ferrus
>Cares for sons deeply
>Spreads culture and art across the worlds he brings into compliance
Fulgrim in Fulgrim:
>Reclusive crackhead
>Terrible negotiator with Ferrus
>Listens to evil Daemon Swords
>Wears more make up than a transvestite whore
>Gives no fucks about Marines and civilians alike
>BUT LOOK AT MY PAINTING, BRAH
Chaos is a hell of a drug.

Abnett
Hey Abnett can you hear me
In 1963, a nuclear detonation under the Nevada desert blew a hole in the world. The feds put a door over it, and a lock on the door; ninety tons of titanium and steel. They kept what was behind that door secret, too - the place it opened onto was just too weird and lethal for people to handle.
It's called a lot of things. The Basement. Downstairs. Some even call it the Dungeon, though the term is officially off-limits. The people in charge tend to call it the 'Subterrestrial Operations Theater', but nobody uses that name except on official reports. Whatever you call it, though, it's a world of magic and monsters, and people keep on going down in there to see what they can find. Mostly through, prettied up though it may be, greed; they want the magical gear that can be pulled out.
Thing is, that first hole isn't the only one. The Russians had two, the Americans made at least one more. It's suspected the Japanese have several, though they only officially admit one. The French and British have got them too. Most of those are top-secret, official clearance only. But after the Soviet Union collapsed, not only did everything they'd pulled out (or at least a lot of it) spread across the black market, one of their access points got more open. It's run by the Russian mob, of all people, and you do not mess with them if you're wise - though if you've got the cash, you can get in there.
And then there are the ones that are only rumors, at least officially. Treasure hunters head down into them, the ones made by failed states with suitcase nukes, or torn open intermittently by nuclear disasters - Chernobyl, for instance, is known to be a weak point. You're getting in through one of those, because - whether you served or not - you're out of the military and working privately.
>You are Diana Martins, sniper.
>You are Kira Blake, infiltration specialist. (Stealth/scouting and traps.)
>You are David Lee, heavy weaponry.

Have you ever wanted a character just loaded with tons of hidden weapons?
>>44274610
You mean you haven't been loading them with enough ways to kill someone to man an army in a pinch tucked into every spot you could hide a knife? I thought that was just normal.
>>44274610
Exactly how many are we talking?
I've played one before, it was pretty cool.
You are Irue Valen, blood heir to House Valen, and currently you are meeting up with a potential investigator who might be able to secure you a way out of this miserable town of Carona. The Mayor's lockdown has been a thorn in your side ever since you returned, as it effectively prevented you from getting in - and now, getting back out - along with the rest of your peasant knights. You had decided to put off your meeting with the Shrine's head attendants in order to make good on this opportunity, so one way or another you were determined to make some kind of profit out of this venture.
With the words of your shadow guiding your actions, you issue a seemingly flustered apology to the sharp featured serving man who had managed to talk the boss of the pub into giving you a charity shift. You had only worked for a very brief time before vanishing off to the Shrine, which left you on thin ice upon your return... If you had been planning to have long term gainful employment here, anyway. It was easy to pass off your excitement and rush to give thanks to the Mana as simply an endearing quirk.
It wasn't as if any working class member of Carona was actually going to try and question your fondness for the Mana. The fact a Shrine even existed in this place pretty much guaranteed that its inhabitants were going to be primarily faithful.
Still, you were let off with a lecture about excitability and responsibility - The last thing you needed was a lecture about responsibility! - And allowed to help the night shift. To that end, you took a moment to verify your clothes were exactly where you left them, and then get be introduced to your new coworker. There was some confusion on your end when you were informed the man from this morning wouldn't be working with you anymore, but you suppose it makes sense that he wouldn't be working all day AND night...
"Hey, sugar."
In a related note, you don't feel exactly shocked that your 'new' coworker was the bubbly brunette from last night, either. You school away the brief expression of surprise at having met her again as she runs you over the work you'll be expected to do, as well as giving you some tips about... Well, getting tips from the night crowd.
Various small laughs were exchanged as you learned details about successful waitressing that you hadn't ever actually considered. You're not really sure how much of that particular form of serving applied to you, but advice was advice, and so you took it with a grain of salt. You suppose you could pull it off regardless, when it came down to it...
You noticed that she seemed a little distracted as the talks went on and the two of you waited for your shift to begin, and after a few moments you realize she had been watching the pub. You're not sure what exactly she was looking for, but the perpetual sweeping glances never seemed to come up with anything conclusive.
>Ask about the investigator.
>Ask what she's looking for
>Ask about her
>Ask about the man from earlier
>Ask about something else.
>Other? (write-in)

It's another average day at Bungupanoonga High School, and you're sitting around the handball courts with your girlfriend Mel and your side chick Gemma. It's second break on friday arvo, when your wog mate Georgios comes round the corner.
"Oi cuz! Ross!"
"Hey Georgy, what's up mate?" You say.
"Nah much mate, just came over cuz Fred's throwin' a gatho tomorrow night, told me to come tell you."
"Oh yeah? You coulda just texted me though."
"Nah he want me to come and make sure Gems and the other chick comes along."
"I'm in," Gemma says.
You look over to Mel. "Uh, I dunno," she says. "I'm not really one for parties."
>"Aw garn Mel, it'll be fine."
>"It's alright if you don't wanna come, Mel, we can do something else."

You are ROY POWERS, a Vertical Tank Commander!
Currently, you have been tasked with a rather unusual mission. You were to track down and "eliminate" Hess.
"What do you mean by 'eliminate?'" You ask suspiciously. "Kill? Capture?"
"Depends on who you talk to." Sawyer grumbles. "Command is aware of Hess'... status, and believe that her capture could be massive bargaining chip in future negotiations with Reikland."
"So they want her as a hostage." You bluntly summarize.
"Well, that's the ideal option for them." Sawyer sighs. "However, their main concern is her status as a combat asset on the battlefield. The fact that she's been able to create such a difference during the battle at the Iron Foundry as well as singlehandedly eliminate over a dozen knights has them concerned about the possibility us running into her."
"And Breton wants us to kill her, I assume." Tarin says flatly, not even a question.
"It's odd, really." Sawyer shakes his head. "The Bretons both adore and absolutely despise her. They want her dead, but they want it done RIGHT."
"Let me guess. Nothing sneaky, but straight up one on one combat?" You frown.
"Bingo."

How would mounted combat work if the mount is a human and the rider is also a human and the lance is also made of human and the target is kinda human wearing human and using something made of human as a shield?
>>44272780
it would be humangous mess
So cannibal warfare?
Does skill with Motherfucker count for all of those, or do we need separate skills like Ride: Motherfucker, Weapon: Motherfucker, Shield: Motherfucker, etc.
I'm writing up a source book for my 5th ed game. It seems like a great way for my players and I to keep track of lore, knowledge of the world, extra rules, etc.
But I'm not exactly sure how to do it. It seems like a big task all by itself. Are there any guides for this kind of thing? Perhaps a well written out source book I could follow?
Also what's your favourite campaign setting, /tg/?
>>44272777
I've realised how ugly that yellow looks now.
Bumping with map
If you intend it to be for your players, I'd say keep it short and focus on only the most important things. In my experience, a 16-page guide with broad-strokes outlines of the campaign world--geography, politics, setting, religion, races/cultures, any new rules, etc.--is probably the most that most players are willing to wade through and devote their attention to. Think the player's guides to the various Pathfinder APs, if you're familiar with them.
If, on the other hand, you're writing something because you think that other people might like running your campaign setting, or you enjoy creating your world and documenting it for your own sake, go nuts and make it as long as you wish. Just don't expect your players to digest a 300+ page document on the setting, for example.
Nice choice on the Edmund Blair Leighton artwork, by the way!
Has any one played Uncharted Worlds? it's apparently based on Apocalypse World which seems like a limiting system
Bumping. I've been interested in this game as well, particularly the PDF, if anyone has it and is willing to share.
Never heard of it. Sell me on it.
>>44272489
Isn't PbtA a narrative system, so limiting should be the least of worries?
