Warhammer Fantasy General, focused on the fluff and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. 1st and 2nd Edition, but discussion on 3rd Edition and the Tabletop is welcomed... ish.
Another thread is yet again about to fall of the board, so I'm starting yet another one. Let's try to not let this one derail.
If you see our resident autist coming back and posting meaningless shitposts even though things have been explained to him for the past five threads, hit the "▶" to the right of his post number and report him.

End Times and Age of Shitmar need not apply. If that's your cup of tea, there's an ongoing thread for beaten housewives with stockholm syndrome elsewhere on the board, no need to shit up this one thread, please.
And here's an empty, fillable .pdf character sheet.
I wanted to include it in the OP but I couldn't find anywhere to upload it for sharing and apparently you can't link to anonfiles without it getting caught in the spam filter.
>what wind of magic is your favourite?
I've always been partial to Ulgu (Shadow Wizards) or Chamon (Metal, Gold Wizards). For some reason I just like the idea of pulling off fun shit and being a somewhat atypical "wizard".
The rogue-ish illusionist caster type is an archetype I just like a lot, and if not that, then alchemists and transmuters, turning one thing into another.
I dont trust /v/, so which is the best shadowrun game?
Also, Shadowrun thread.

We already have a Shadowrun thread.

Tell me OSR
How do you like your fantasy; weird or traditional?
>>44339959
I like weird, but my players prefer traditional.
Replying to the guy who posted this in the last OSR thread:
Keep in mind that coins are different sizes and that standard coin sizes could have been deliberately engineered to give the 10 to 1 progression.
Also, judging by Roman coinage, if you're trying to be historically realistic about the value of metals, then the jump from copper to silver should be bigger than the jump between silver and gold, at least assuming the coins are all approximately the same size.
>Around the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Empire:
>1 gold aureus = 25 silver denarii = 400 copper asses
>1 silver denarius = 16 copper asses
>A denarius and an aureus were roughly the same size (about 2 cm in diameter), though the latter weighed more as gold is denser than silver. An as is significantly bigger (almost 3 cm in diameter) and weighs more than 3 times as much as a denarius, but is worth 16 times less.
>Taking into account silver's slightly greater density, I come up with silver being worth about 45 times as much as an equal volume of copper. So for coins the same size:
>1 gold coin = 25 silver coins = 1125 copper coins
>1 silver coin = 45 copper coins
>To simplify things a bit, if we make gold coins a bit smaller (about 1.8 cm in diameter as compared to 2 cm for silver coins, assuming both have the same thickness) and reduce copper coins by about half as much (to around 1.9 cm in diameter), then we get the following exchange rate:
>1 gold coin = 20 silver coins = 1000 copper coins
>1 silver coin = 50 copper coins
But again, you could just as easily make a gold coin about 74% the diameter and thickness of a silver coin to make it worth 10 silver coins. And you could make a copper coin about 171% the diameter and thickness of a silver coin to make it worth 1/10 a silver coin, thus giving you the standard D&D progression. (And, of course, you don't have to anchor the value of metals in your game to those during one historical period in one part of the world.)
[Happy Holidays, everyone, and welcome to the Christmas Special/Catchup Thread of Magical Girl Noir Quest! On this thread, we'll be summarizing the events from the last...forty threads or so! (Gosh, that's pretty lame) Let's have one last good one for this quest!]

"But anyway, same deal, character interviews first, then summarizing what happened during the paltry forty threads or so that happened this year. So, let's hit the ground running and pick from some new characters this time around!"

How have you raped the laws of physics in your games? Pic very much related.

We did it with vaults a while back so I thought we'd try and make a dungeon with the same rules.

ill start;
dungeon entrance is built under the town hall and connects to nearly every house in the area
>>44388354
The dungeon is full of magically-enhanced armor. It is now full of goblins, who are being really tiring to kill because of the first reason. There has been jobs that want to retrieve the armor.
Sacks of potatoes line the corridors
All of them poisonous.
None of the torches are lit, and any of the player's attempts to light them are met with failure. At the entrance to the dungeon there is a light switch that turns them on unfortunately hidden behind overgrown moss. There are no other sources of light, even player created sources
Do you guys know any games that are like the movie/book "The Road"?

Who here is doing cool shit with Fate Core? What is it? Why Fate? Why is it cool?
That fucking Gorilla. I don't know, about 60% of the art in the book is that goddamn cyborg primate.
Specifically, we're doing a Roman Era nWoD mage with a modified version of FATE core.
>>44387976
They must love the damned thing, because it is fucking everywhere...
Sounds sweet - what did you modify? Using Extras?
Doing a fantasy alt-history campaign where the Norse, Romans, Egyptains and Tibetans are great powers battling in the new world. Mostly been concentrating on a settlement in far north America. PCs are a jarl, a high priest and a half-native monster hunter.
There's been a lot of mass combats and city-management stuff that's been a breeze to do with Fate and I couldn't imagine being able to do as quickly or easily in other systems.

Let's design a set of 4chan related chess pieces. Once we're complete, I will host a /tg/ community game using the pieces.
/tg/ memes are fine, but try and keep it globally 4chan related.
I will start off by proposing that hiro-tan is black queen and moot is white queen.
>>44386085
white pawns could be anons and black pawns could be tumblr anons (anon+sunglasses essentially )
>>44386190
I'd rather both sides are 4chan specific. Let's keep it inside our borders and not use it as a boogeyman hunt.
Hey, Eyeballs you.
Yes, you.
Do you have characters or character background that you wrote that you're particularly proud of yet have never got use because the campaign died before it started?
Whether too many people flaked out, It wasn't really scheduled well to begin with, or the GM couldn't get enough players YOU, YOU went through all of the trouble of making a character and writing backstory.
Share characters who's dreams of glory died before they began.
Here's one I made for a Dark Heresy game that never took off: a Nobel birthed Scum with Monstrous Lineage by the name of Rikka Mannerhiem.
The last surviving member of the House of Mannerhiem, Rikka was born into plenty. Before its demise the House of Mannerhiem claimed a dozen spires of the most populous hive world in the Calixis sector as their domain. The Mannerhiem's traditions, rituals, and the origin of their strange appearance were as shaded in mystery as their meteoric rise to power. Rumors circled abound of borderline heretical activities including, the ritual consumption of human flesh and blood. Word spread and grew within the rival houses until speculation gained enough traction that it garnered the interest of the Inquisition. Inquisitorial Storm Troopers smashed the spire top palace of Mannerhiem to pieces and killed all inside.
All except one.
Little 14 year old Rikka fled down into the under-hive swearing a blood oath of vengeance upon all that had wronged her. For a few years she eked out a meager existence living off of scraps. Until the winds of fate blew and she fell in with a group of underhive gangers. Through a combination of cunning, tact, charm and utter ruthlessness she came to lead them. She used them as a spring board for the creation of a larger criminal element in the upper levels, a cruel parody of the once revered house of Mannerhiem. From there she wormed her way upwards seeking revenge on her sworn enemies in the now dominant rival houses.
(Cont.)
>>44385973
But, things do not always go as planned. The Nobel houses caught wind of her survival and the subversive element at her disposal and set the planetary regulators on dismantling her little low-life army. Once again she escape with barely with her life; this time fleeing the world entirely.
The Emperor smiles on those who persevere; the very same Inquisition that destroyed her family is always on the lookout for those who are cunning enough to serve within its ranks. None the worse for wear, a still vengeance hungry Rikka Mannerhiem has been pardoned of her crimes and taken on as an acolyte in His Holy Inquisition.
>>44385973
Practically everyone does.
Though in truth, it's usually shit.
I'm currently waiting for a 5e Eberron game I got accepted into to start on Roll20. Problem is, there's like 8 potential players not counting the DM, and a lot of people don't see to be making much headway.
It's not that special, but I've worked on the character from the bottom up and am liking him.
He's part of House Deneith, basically a third cousin of the main line at this point. His father's a general in the Sentinel Marshals, and he was almost always absent during the character's childhood. His mother is the head of a small family of masons that married into the Deneith line. She was a spoiled child who did a pretty shit job raising her own.
The combination of daddy issues and haughty nobility is something I've never played as before, so it's something I'd like to explore.
At 16 he joined the Sentinel Marshals, as was expected to him, and turns out he's good with a bow. Absurdly good--in 5e terms, Archery fighting style and Sharpshooter feat at level 1 good.
After basic training, they send him down south to the desert elf lands, Valenar, where he does his duty as a Marshal under the wing of an elf ranger named Adriel. Over the course of four or five years, she furthers his expertise with the bow til he can peg a goblin at 200 yards, teaching him her people's language and the basics of survival. He goes from snobby boy to a man with a pragmatic view of the world. Maybe there was some romance going on there, I'm not sure yet.
The shadow of his father looms heavily over him, especially as he becomes more experienced. On a trip back to Sentinel Tower, reporting like all Marshals do, he gets offered a position in something called the Thronehold Project (specific to the campaign). He sees this as an opportunity to finally rise above his father's shadow and make his own name. Deeper still, it's his chance to prove himself to his father and to distance himself from his mother, whom he can only see now as a disgusting, greedy sloth.
Not-Jedi ediction.

I was thinking of the cost of the perks, it will double every time; 50,100,200,400....etc
Since Black chart is complete, you have a couple of choices:
-Choose a Black route for free, pick up to two perk ( we can afford a 50 perk then a 100 perk) or don't. this will close the white perks
-Do the exact opposite but since we are low on white, we can't choose anything for. this will close the black perks
-Choose none for now.

This movie kinda rustled my DnD jimmies.
I thought it was a fucking master piece. I came in there not realizing it was based off of his DnD character, my friends and I slowly pieced together that it was supposed to be about Melcor. Then all the shit about the crystals, oh God.

Whatever he played in that geek and sundry video, how did it rustle you?
The only part i had a major gripe with was the girls dialogue
How do I add a bit of general character growth to my character? I want him to take on the title of "The Raven" without it being stupid or making him out like an autist. The character in question has Prince of Persia/Assassin's Creed tier acrobatics, and has been witnessed doing these things extensively, so his renown is probably good enough to be recognized if he spread some rumours or something. Now the reason I wanna give him "The Raven" shtick is due to a number of reasons that all sort of fell in place (I'm not gonna go into it unless asked because I know it gets annoying when people overdo character descriptions)
I want pretty much just a couple insignias on his outfit and probably some other cool stuff, (maybe custom weapons?) but none specifically come to mind. If any of you guys could help think of something good that won't make it seem like I just want my character in the spot light it would be greatly appreciated.
Also general character background and/or lore thread.
Also will dump a few greentexts to help get the ball rollin.
