What would a rabid robots' rights activist would insist robots have to be called, assuming that he finds "robot", "artificial intelligence", and "synthetic" all somehow offensive/disrespectful? I'm not looking for something too blatently /pol/ish or goofy, it's an otherwise serious game. The activist is just a quirky side-character, and excessive political correctness on the subject of robots (who, for the most part, don't mind being called that at all) is just a part of the joke.
So what "proper" word would he push for? I'm looking for something that would sound annoying but funny when preached in a nasally voice. "It's DESIGNED intelligence, not ARTIFICIAL intelligence, thank you very much!". Stuff like that.

Noncellular lifeforms
With an accompanying long-winded lecture about how the words like "mechanical" or "inorganic" don't describe the subject properly.
"Non-Human Intelligence" possibly. If you want to push it you can reverse the order to "Intelligences that aren't Human" or some other clunky turn of phrase. I remember once being in a lecture about the politically correct way to refer to disabled people, and one point raised by the lecturer was that for maximum correctness you must say "people who have [condition here]", rather than "deaf/blind/[condition here] people". This is to emphasise that the individual is a person first, and not to define them by their disability. This of course makes the phrase itself incredibly cumbersome and will ironically draw attention to how much you're fixating on their status.
>>44378618
Heh, not an issue in my native language. We put the noun before the adjective anyway. Of course, we mostly refer to them by an individual noun which simply means "disabled person".
Happy Holidays Edition.
Okay guys the results of your turn along with the next turn will be posted at 11 am EST tomorrow, this is just so everybody is aware its coming.

Shadowrun not-general is over at >>44343952 go there to talk about the vidya.
I've got a question I didn't want to fold into the OP. One of the Big 10 is getting taken off the Corporate Court soon, right? Any guesses on which one? I've heard NeoNET is gonna be the one taking a hit, but I'm tempted to use a different one for the purposes of a campaign.
Stick-n-Shock or Gel rounds? Which do you generally prefer?
>>44363942
Depends how many bullets I'm using.
A lot of the time, Evil deities in RPGs are pretty cookie cutter "God of zombies, god of blood, god of sickness" stuff. Post about the evil gods in your campaigns that have an interesting twist or concept.
>>44360529
I'll go first:
>Yaezhing
>LE God of Punishment and Harsh Justice
>Holy symbol is pic related
>Worshipers generally act like kung-fu Judge Dredds with insanely high moral standards
>Will execute bandits for attacking a village, then decimate the guard and maim the populace for not doing enough to stop them
> Hold themselves to insanely high standards as well, so most of cult is heavily scarred and/or maimed from self-punishment.
>Despite Evil alignment, are willing to work with Good characters to punish evildoers.
Separating gods from the setting they preside over is pretty haram. I think it'd be better to just keep the specifics like name, how they're worshipped, and their cult out of it and stick to describing the archetype. Like the idea of a goddess of spring also being goddess of revolution/upheaval or advocating a form of anarcho-primitivism over civilization at all costs.
>>44360529
Anorgash, the God of Nothing.
He was one of the children of the gods that created reality. When his siblings were given domains to govern over he was left without anything to rule over by accident. Embittered, he fled into the darkness between worlds to scheme. Now, he seeks to destroy the world and claim all souls of mortals for himself. Why?
So that he can createa new world where mortals can be reincarnated. A world without suffering, hunger or death. He legitimately wants to kick other gods off existence and give mortals an eternal paradise.

You settle on the best intelligence service in the world, CNN World News. The really nice thing about CNN is that it endlessly repeats every vague rumor and panic-smeared sightings, which is exactly the intel you need - panic-smeared half-glimpsed sightings are the entrails from which you divine Abyssal intentions, and more importantly it tells you where a show of force is needed as well as actual substantive patrols. The volume is at zero instead of Mute, you huff with annoyance and crank it up.
“-of starvation have abated in the last few weeks due to events Vietnamese fishermen are calling a 'miracle.' Many smaller villages on the Vietnamese coastline still rely on fishing as an important food source, and major factory fishing operations are a huge component of the Vietnamese export economy, earning the country over two billion dollars a year. Over twenty factory fishing vessels have been attacked since the beginning of the year, resulting in a dozen casualties and three sinkings. Despite assistance from the Russian government, including increased patrols by the Russian eastern fleet and the cheap sale of rocket artillery to the Vietnamese government, even locals practicing traditional fishing in small boats have been unwilling to venture out of harbor.”
The picture changes to a view of a busy Vietnamese fishing village; boats of every shape and size, from dirty little scows to brightly painted trawlers to traditional sampans, their characteristic fan-shaped sails handsome and exotic in the breeze as they tried to navigate a harbor absolutely stuffed with anchored vessels. An older, wizened fisherman appears on-screen, his face obscured by a digital distortion. The slick, slightly British accent of the translator follows his gruff words by a half-beat. “People sail out and don't come back. The military flies jets over the ocean all day, but at night the Gulf belongs to them again. Now they guard the rivers, and they tell us to sleep in shelters at night because the monsters shell the coastline. Look at us. Some of these villages float! There is nowhere to hide. Everyone is afraid.”
“But three weeks ago, all that changed.” The camera feed switches to a view of fisherman lined up on their knees in a large group, heads bowed before a hand-made tapestry depicting the silhouette of what looks like a warship. “Fisherman have reported witnessing many violent night battles just offshore; the sound of many guns firing and the muzzle flashes of same.” A grainy picture is shown; depicting little in the way of discernible details, but it does look like the muzzle flashes of a large warship at long distance. “Since the mysterious battles began, there has not been a single successful shelling of the Vietnamese shoreline. The government claims it's due to the stepped-up patrols and improved radar coverage implemented recently, but the fisherman have a different view - one not appreciated by the government.” The camera cuts to a woman this time, her face also pixelated. “It is the Ghost,” she says. “The Spirit, sent as our savior.”

Still soaking-wet from your unplanned debut as a human javelin, you limp up the sidewalk towards your door, the tapping of your cane on the concrete giving away your approach. Shoukaku's long white hair flows around her like satin as she turns to investigate, her hand covering her surprised mouth.
“Admiral Settle?”
“M'lady,” you say, tipping your khaki cap politely, a little saltwater running off it.
She gives you the once-over. “Uh... you're... soaking wet.”
“Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewd,” Hamp drawls, the word starting at the corner of his mouth and rolling across his lips till he slings it out the opposite side.
You turn your gaze from Hamp to Shoukaku, and jerk your thumb at the cruiser. “This. This is my life now.”
“You can't walk around like that, though!” Shoukaku says with alarm. “You'll get sick!” She steps behind you and starts pushing you towards the door. “Hurry, inside, we've got to get you in the-”
Hamp sucks at his Starbucks, tiling it up and draining it with the loudest, wettest, slurpiest rattle possible. He lowers the empty cup slowly, as if savoring the taste, and smacks his lips wetly. His eyes twitch from you to Shoukaku and back again.
“.... what?”
“... I see what you mean,” Shoukaku says cautiously as you hastily unlock the door and push inside. Hamp waves at you with exuberance before you slam the door on his shit-eating grin.

Also, what's your weapon of choice, /jc/?

First, an explanation: At the end of the last thread I made a “last post of the night” and, upon seeing an unanticipated response, made another post to give the thread some closure and give me a better opportunity to prepare for this one, hoping to catch as many people as possible before they left. I then made a strawpoll as a follow-up to make sure I was getting a fair read on people's opinions.
Suffice to say, as anyone who follows this quest at all will know, this didn't work out too well.
And thus, a retcon, for the sake of fairness, back one vote. Also because the amount of samefagging is ridiculous. I've got about 10 pages of material for the different options to speed things along though, which is nice. Any potential smut stuff will be met with a fade to black and a brief summary for the time being just so that we can get going, with the actual scene posted a little later on once we're underway. I'd like to apologize again for all the confusion, for continuing the thread after saying I was finished, and for and confusion surrounding the strawpoll. Also for making a mad dash to the grocery store for some soda so I don't pass out early. I shall return, probably in like ten minutes or so.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled quest.
You give her a smile.
“Are you gonna be alright, or did you want me to stick around.”
Jennifer turns over, facing away from you.
“You were going to leave anyway. I was hoping that you'd stay a little while, maybe go for some breakfast, but I'll be fine. I do appreciate your thoughtfulness though.”
You set your pack down.
“So is that a yes or a not to you being alright?”
Jennifer curls up a little more.
“I'll endure what I must, you know that. I'd like you to stay, just for a little while, but I'll manage either way.”

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.
Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

Modern Event Deck edition:
R&D put you in charge of designing a new Modern Event Deck. Which deck would you build for newcommers and players in general?
> Medium mode: Total price of cards cant pass 150$
> Hard mode: Price of cards cant pass 100$
Maro plz do your fucking job.
I suppose it doesnt have to be full t1 decks right?
>>44397894
It can be any deck you want.
>>44397858
I bypass Medium and Hard mode through tactical reprints leading up to the release of the deck.
So I see a lot of shitposting tonight. Christmas break I guess.
How about instead of that we have an art thread, ya?
Yall want scifi or fantasy?
What makes a good dungeon crawler?
What can I do to let people have a good time fighting through a dungeon? Both in terms of the dungeon itself and in the system I use.
>>44397234
Well, for the DM's part, there's "interesting location".
Historically, dungeons were prisons/basements of castles, but in fantasy world dungeons can mean anything from that, to tombs, wizard labs, etc.
I feel like the more interesting types of dungeons would be ones with clear purpose and some of the remaining pieces of its purpose still functional.
For example, an underground alchemy lab would have all kinds of faded and old notes on various experiments that had been in the works that players could try to complete.
In sprawling, abandoned estates, fun might be found in the odd leisure activities some of the household might have partaken in. (like clockwork dolls which, while creepy, could be useful tools to distract enemies)
>>44397291
Alright so an interesting, still semi-functional/living location. Alright.
Any ideas about what a good system for this sort of thing is? What the important elements are?
>Playing under the guidance of the General Manager, or GM, you take the role of an Attendant at a dingy old gas station and convenience store on a lonely stretch of deserted highway, just this side of Nowhere.
>Cryptic warnings and some suspect station damage aside, you're pretty sure that those assholes working the Day Shift only have to deal with your typical day-to-day interactions with your standard run -of-the-mill customers, But not you. No, you're not that lucky.
>As night falls and your shift begins, weird things start to happen. Little things at first, like the mirror in the women's bathroom starts malfunctioning, or the television tunes itself, or your last customer pays for his purchase in a currency you've never seen, by the end of the night, things have gone from bad to worse, and you may find yourself having to fight off a horde of shambling dead, service an alien spacecraft, or defeat an invisible beast intent on ending your life.
>However, even with all this happening around you, you still have a job to do and a list of tasks you're expected to complete before the sun rises and the night shift ends, setting up the win conditions for each night's session.
Running The Night Shift in scant days fa/tg/uys.
The event charts already around for it are cool, but I need more low-key events that can be ramped up over time. Help me out?

Your name is Miyako Mitsushita, third year at Rakuta Third Middle School. It is winter, and despite only practicing for a couple hours in the dojo as part of your obligation for the kendo club, the sky has already darkened. You are walking down one of the many smaller streets of the city of Yokote. The lamps are the only light that illumate the streets, the frigid winds making you pull your winter coat closer. On the road to your right you hear a car, the sound of it's engine resounding throughout the silence. As the vehicle comes into view, you see it skid off the road and change direct.
