Something confuses me about /trash/.
1. If a thread breaks a board's rules/is off topic, it could fit in /b/ according to the rules of the site (unless it's got illegal content).
For example nsfw /co/ material could go in /b/... or adult comics /aco/
2. This is true for all boards except /mlp/ (global rule 15)
3. So, why not just create an adult pony board, /ap/?
4. Why not move other offtopic/rulebreak threads to /b/ and get rid of /trash/ as it would have no point after doing these two things?
We really would like an adult pony board.
Because /trash/ is already being flooded with adult pony content (clop, milky way threads, etc) and the other /trash/ peopel wouldn't like that.
It would give them a place to put their off topic nonsense but not have to put up with pony vaginas.

newfags (including Hiro), now that he gave people the power to decide and change things through consensus they think this place is /q/ 2.0 and the only way to change something is by spamming the shit out of it, its slowly going back to its "metaboard" status now though but there are still people making 4-5 different threads just to complain about the same shit
/his/ already has a /christian/ general, and already the general is becoming off topic and acts more like a 4chan chatroom for christians than it does for something conductive to board related on topic discussion, just the same thing that happened on /lit/ earlier this year. A quick look at the latest thread will show you many posts asking about personal conversion, opinions on modern churches and topics that don't fall in line with the point of a history board.
Secondly, the general does not even work to fulfill it's purpose as a general, and you can see several other threads regarding Christianity in the catalog.
I'm not advocating that discussion of Christianity should be removed from the board, just that non productive threads that pass themselves as on topic by name alone and not by content shouldn't exist, it only promotes the use of generals as chatrooms.

The success and future of 4chan relies upon it maintaining a large user base, preferably one that grows over time. Why you ask?
1. The site needs a lot of traffic and users to make ad revenue and have a pool of users to buy passes so 4chan makes enough revenue to cover costs and remain in operation.
2. New users bring fresh blood and ideas. They make new content and memes and make us laugh and think. They'll also bring in more new users themselves and overall add spice to 4chan. Without them we stagnate.
Now that we established we need to continue attracting new users how do we do so? I propose the following:
1. Each board should have a general guide stickied. This should include the board rules, history, topics of discussion, and current memes/phrases/culture so people can quickly "fit in."
2. Cleaning up our image. Safe for work boards should be truly safe for work - no porn or otherwise offensive/suggestive images and no cursing/slurs on those boards. Crack down on behavior and harassment that will hurt 4chan's image further in the media. We don't need another gamergate or fappening or jessi slaughter.
3. Get the word out. Advertise on other sites. Do interviews. Tell your friends to check out 4chan, etc.

Hiro, for quite a long time already we are at a massive impasse. Ever since the first years of the site, people from boards such as /a/ have been invading this site and tried to make it their own little playground. They believe 4chan is nothing more than a shitposting site where they can derail topics, spam useless shit, and bring down the quality of the boards. The biggest shitposters all came from /a/, like Ruggarell, Cebruz etc. Its gotten so bad now that majority of the boards are being nonstop shitposted at any given time.
I know that the decision of dealing with the likes of /a/ isn't quite easiest to make, however it's necessary in order to maintain a healthy climate of the site. Hiro it is impossible now to talk to /a/ at this point. I know you want their opinion but it can't be done because of all the shitposting. Its best that you stay off /a/ and discuss it with the rest of the site, where we still have sane voices.
Many of us on 4chan have been thinking of ideas on how to fix not only /a/, but 4chan up. The ideas for 4chan and /a/ include the following:
>Auto-Ban anyone using/posting images from anime and manga. However they can stay on one their own boards and nowhere else.
>Don't be afraid of IP range bans. Most of the shitposters have dynamic IP so whenever they get banned, they just delete their cookies, reset router and continue shitposting.
>Encourage people to report shitposting threads.
>Start hiring more mods. Have them crack down on major shitposting on all boards. There is nothing more disheartening than seeing a shitposting thread you've reported 2 hours ago still up.
>Add a furry board. Keep it 2D only and permaban anyone posting real bestiality.
We need help Hiro, more than ever at this point. If you can hop into this thread or any other and talk to us on solutions, that would be the best thing to ever happen to us in a long time.
