I think he's only vaguely familiar with 4chan and only bought it because he had a falling out with the other guy on 2ch. It's up to us to educate him on 4chan culture and customs.

That's the point of sage. Just add an error-like message everytime someone uses it to remind them that it's not a downvote. Either that or make it a tickable option in the post interface that says "do not bump" since sage isn't well understood outside of Japan.

I can see the merits of /fg/, but I don't think it should be linked from anywhere other than the sticky on /tg/, i.e. it shouldn't be linked from the 4chan start page. I think there is a risk that an influx of posters who aren't from /tg/ would completely shit up the board and the quests therein.
Hiro, you should know that most of 4chan no longer identifies with the "Anonymous" "hacker" movement. Although about half of us also browse reddit and people from hobby boards more often than not have tumblr accounts, we prefer to keep our culture different and separate from those sites. This is not an attack on the way you are handling things or whatever, but given the links you've been shoving down our throats
