Was EqG a mistake ultimately, or did it provide anything to the franchise? Indirectly it actually helped to give Hasbro the biggest win the toy industry had seen in decades: Disney licenses moving from Mattel to them.
Basically Hasbro made EqG, Mattel, who was already making the line EqG was responding to, had to do something. They made a spinoff line involving more magical stuff including public domain fairy tales and monsters. This made Disney incredibly pissed, among other things. Then they offered all of their franchises to Hasbro.
EqG sales might be declining, but ultimately they did help Hasbro get Disney stuff. Not too sure about its future past EqG 4 though. Guardians of Harmony might be getting the EqG-style movie treatment. Animation wise that series might just slip to those EqG Mini shorts. What do you think of all of this, /mlp/?

No, the problem with generals is the fact that there are too many of them and regular threads can't keep up, but removing them wouldn't magically make content appear, all it would do is make shitposting last longer and take the space generals are currently covering, if both shitposting and generals were removed /mlp/ would just be dead, to further support my statement i suggest checking the catalog and see how many shitty threads die with less than 10 replies, that happens because unless a thread is really good its going to get buried quickly by the generals and die before it can further develop itself, so as cancerous and chaotic some generals can be they still indirectly help with that
