I've been watching ponies for about 3 years total now. Equestria Girls had just come out, and Twilight was already a princess with wings. I'd consider myself relatively newfag. I have a question about where we are today compared to back in the early days of the "fandom"ugh...
There's a lot of people who say things like "You will never experience ponies in 2012 again," but there's also people who like the fact that we have all the show and fan content from the past combined with new content coming out.
Was being a fan of ponies really all that back in 2011/2012? If so, how much has it lessened in quality/enthusiasm/energy/whatever?
The show is losing its quality since season 4.

Yeah, pretty great. The style of the animation still ticks me off a little at times, not sure what it is (I think it's the movements or some of the faces), but it has improved from the earlier ones. And the rest is pretty great, I mean, basically show-style animation. If this continues, he'll be the new Jan in terms of quality (Speaking of that, nice hommage).
Of course, the voicework isn't all that great (at least on Starlight, Flash is OK) and the script is a-OK, just silly antics as usual for his stuff.
Let's hope he doesn't also meet the same fate as Jan.

Friendship is Magic #44 is due out this Wednesday (Jul. 20).
Summer may conjure the image of beaches and pools and such, but there's still plenty of other entertainment in Equestria for the season. Sports, walks in the forests (probably not the Everfree), sitting on a park bench, seeing the newest theater shows, visiting Yakyakistan so the warmth is a welcome change on return- ponies have options! And then, of course, there's also good old-fashioned silliness appropriate for any time of the year.

Do Twilight and her friends have any grand plans for the middle of summer? The Summer Sun Celebration would certainly be important, but that's more the flag for the beginning of the season. Days get warmer so it might be nice to take a vacation break to visit somewhere. But it all depends on the rest of their schedules! And Ponyville's still nice any time of the year, too. Still - there's a lot of Equestria out there!
