>How do I go about becoming a Detective for my cities Police Force?
Go to the academy, make it through your time with the FTO, walk/drive a beat for 5 to 10 years. During this time, apply. Also apply for additional skill training and special teams.
>I'm 25 and have a bachelor's degree,
This is irrelevant, unless you're going into an agency where the minimum is a four year degree.
>Would you rather obtain 3000 dollars worth of ammunition
>or
>Would you rather obtain 3000 dollars worth of firearms
There is only one right answer /k/
I've got plenty of ammo, i'd rather take $3k in gun(s).
Realistically that would buy 2-5 guns.
>>29295366
Firearms.
I want an AUG. I can afford the ammo myself.
>>29295366
Ive got well over 20 guns with less than 3000 rounds of ammo total.
Id probably take the ammo and buy 3000 rounds of 308.
There's no way for me to get any practise with firearms right now but I'd like to learn about them. Theories, tactics, types of weapons, builds, etc.
Can anyone recommend me some good litterature on firearms?

Hola amigos, Mexibro here and I've a question for you /k/ommandos
It is well-known that here in Mexico we've strict gun laws, we're restricted to small caliber guns, you know, the usual.
And I'd like to buy a gun, a pistol preferably, I have some gun training, I used to hunt with my dad when I was 15, so, /k/ can you reccomend me some good small caliber guns?
Also, I've been thinking of getting this, a PPK, but I havent found one yet :/
>>29294320
Glock 42
>>29294589
Looks good mate, bad thing is that it's kinda difficult to find guns here, what one can find galore are hunting rifles, I've even seen one AR that I think was one of those double action, like the ones in the UK
Does /k/ listen to any podcasts?
>>29294157
I listen to Caravan to Midnight.
It is sort of like Alex Jones but less woo woo and with a more reasonable host that actually listens to those people he interviews.
Sleepycast.
Any ones where they interview vets and have them tell their story? I thought I found one but it's really just reading stories found else where it seems (Vietnam Veteran News podcast)
I been looking for getting a personal revolver because I want something to protect myself and to have something to have fun with.
I been looking at a ruger black powder revolver and changing out the cylinders to accept 45lc rounds but I don't know where to go get one besides from online order but I did have thoughts about just getting a revolver from a gunstore but the idea of paper trails don't fly with me because I don't want to be constantly paranoid so I'm trying out gunshows maybe.
Anyway I want to hear what is your personal favorite when...

Jesus, what are you? Twelve?
So I just turned 18 and have a couple hundred bucks to spend, maybe more if I get any gifts from family members. I'm planning on ordering a Mosin within the next two days. Before I do, I just wanted to know if there are any other good rifles for cheap that aren't .22 as I've already got two of those. I'm not very up to date on pricing so I figured a Mosin would just be the best bet. I also thought about having my dad buy a Tokarev and gift it to me, which to my knowledge would be legal, but I decided I'd rather have a rifle so I can go hunting and shit....

Mosins require research up the wazoo for a first gun.
Aim for a 10/22 buddy.
>>29293185
Just got one and I didn't realize how much of a pain in the ass they are to clean and specifically the trigger assemblys fickle-ness

is a car good cover from gunfire?
Concealment, not cover
>>29291545
No, the body panels offer little to no protection from anything bigger than a .22. Rounds will ricochet under the car and strike you. It is better to flee, do not try to flee in the vehicle, use the vehicles to conceal your movements and fight/flee.

Hey /k/, forgive the stupid question. I'm a /noguns about to become a /hasguns and I'd like to know, why is a .22 considered a joke for a concealed carry weapon?
I mean, when I watch forensic crime shows, probably 75% of the time when someone is killed, it's with a .22, so they're obviously lethal, but people say the .380 is about the minimum caliber to be effective for self defense, and some even say that's too small.
Some of the pros of a .22 would be that the ammo is dirt cheap and plentiful, and the recoil is lighter, letting you be...

The reason so many kills are with .22 is because it's common. But if you shoot someone center of mass with .22 you're not reliably putting them down, especially through kinda thick clothes. I wouldn't rely on it.
>>29290960
thats a great gun OP, get it. and it's not considered a joke for concealed carry, there's a reason why the military and police all rely on the venerable .22
>>29290960
It's not, there are just such better options available.
My dad is going to be 70 soon and he can only rack the slide of a 22. For instance.
Hey friendly /k/unts, do share some of your experiences. I'm sure I'm the biggest idiot here but you're welcome to try to take the cake.
I just got back from my LGS where I paid $900 for a S&W highway patrolman. I was without Internet connection and couldn't do a quick price check. Still, I'm a stupid motherfucker and it stings. I do like the gun very much so there's that
I spent 80 bucks on a CZ magazine during the Sandy Hook fallout
>>29291013
I can't blame you for that one though
>>29290906
Are you so impulsive that you couldn't leave the store and look up the value of the gun, then go back and buy it later if it was a good deal?
Is this really the best folder under $150?
>>29290790
Spider knife is objectively an excellent gun. The rest is in the eye of the beholder
>>29290790
Yes.
>>29290790
No.
The tip is very fragile and the handle / edge ratio is quite shitty.
I dont think they make them anymore but the Bill Harsey Lone Wolf line was pretty good.
If I had that money to blow on a user folder I'd probably go for two identical Cold Steels
