Maybe /k/ can enlighten me,
Why do people love butterfly knives so much? They just seem useless and gaudy to me. Is there something important i'm missing about them?

Looks like fun. Is this the Canadian fur trade or the United States one?

I have a question /k/.

How important is actual combat experience to an army?

Does it make them, all other things roughly being equal, significantly more effective than an army that hasn't had real combat experience in a long time?

What sort of things do they learn as a result of being in combat that you can't learn from war games? What did the Russian Army learn from its war in Georgia for example?

How big of an advantage would it be to the US that the US military has been fighting wars for decades if it fought an army like the PLA, that hasn't fought a real war in decades?

Generals with experience > Generals with none/limited
Equipment that's been tried and confirmed on the field and in battle > Equipment that has just gone through testing and whatever

Simple as that anon.
>>
>>29316608
Nobody knows how well something works for real until it starts flinging live ammo at something that's flinging live ammo back.

that's the case be it planes, tanks, equipment, doctrine, training program, or the quality of your officers/NCOs.
>>
You don't necessarily need experience
However experience teaches you what works from what doesn't
Proper doctrine, tactics, training & good equipment will trump an experienced army any day.

Practical testing & large scale exercises can be done
It's just usually not common because there are bureaucratic incentives of not "rocking the boat".

I hope this is /k/ related enough, and I don't think I'm breaking any rules.

A friend of mine said he'd make a Mauser 98k (any WWII rifle really, but I like the 98k) if I got him prints for one, I'd just need to pay him $200. So I'm looking for blueprints/ schematics of the Mauser 98, do they exist? If so where to find them?
As far as I know this is legal btw, but I'm not fully versed in gun laws, so I may be wrong. Any help is fully appreciated.

Maybe find a armour's guide and see what that has for measurements.
>>
>>29315900
How the fuck is he going to make one without the immense amount of specific machinery required to build the various steel parts/action of the mauser rifle.

How will he BUILD a barrel?

Will he form the springs himself?
>>
You just can't make it an sbr or sawed off, or fully automatic without a manufacturers lisence or a $200 tax stamp for each NFA registered item.

What's the worst recoiling gun you've fired /k/? In terms of felt recoil.

Mine: 3" sabot slugs fired from a remshit 870
or s&w model 29 4" barrel with hand loads so hot they cracked the brass. Neither were really that bad though.

>>
A 686 with 158 .357 grain in it.

Not too bad, but it was loud as fucking hell compared to anything else.

It's hard to explain, because the recoil wasn't exactly "worse" than the .357, but 9x18 blowback guns really "snap" a lot worse, and beat the FUCK out of my hand webbing. PA63 was the worst for this with the single stack; the cz82 not so much.
>>
>>29315255
Wait are you complaining about 9mm recoil?

I'm off work now and feel like I been going nowhere and always had the thought in the back of my mind about becoming a Private Investigator/Detective. In Texas it seems pretty easy compared too a lot of other places in the country and world too get a license or job at a agency. I know the work ain't all/at all gonna be hard boiled misadventures or be all that glamorous.

Any suggests or reasons I should go through with it? I'm a night person, I'm keen too detail and reading people, good at doing mundane and repetitive shit. Got a Colt detective special and a hand me down long coat from my dad. But like most work I bet it's gonna be hard getting clients or getting hired at a firm etc. because I bet the market is oversaturated.

I had a pain in the ass time just getting a shit constitution job that lasted a few weeks, and only had that because my sister's dumbass stoner boyfriend was higher up in the crew and he's even getting less hours, knowledgeable to do more mundane shitty office jobs(data entry, mail room clerk) but every fucking place now needs a degree. Some places you need a degree too mix fucking paint or print silkscreens. In a few years you can't serve coffee in this country without a degree. Looking for other jobs is shit all I see is uber driver and trucker jobs.

I am a firefighter/paramedic.

I pull a few OT shifts a month which nets me a 6 figure income.

I have lots of time off.

With my income and time off I can pursue firearms as a hobby and am not limited to poor fag guns.

Be an adult and get a real job and stop asking a Turkish cartoon video board to critique jobs you will probably never ever have.

If the nazis were around in the 50's would they make rotors like this?
43 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
>>29314433
No.
>>
>>29314433
No, it would be an aeroelastic nightmare, because the lift force would not be aligned with the wing root (fulcrum).
>>
No because that's a stupid idea. The rotors would flex like crazy and would be heavier than needed.

This. How do you actually shoot guns properly? I have 3 now and have had zero instruction other than randoms at the range. I've spent more time looking for DESIGNER furniture for my firearms than I've actually spent learning how to shoot better.

I love how the kind freak out about open carriers. Most people don't open carry. The Texans carrying rifles into Walmart were protesting the lack of open carry handgun laws (fun fact: they won). If you attack open carriers you're attacking your own rights.

Consider this your daily reminder.

Libs freak out, I meant to say. Goddamn auto correct.
>>
>>29311333
I don't have issue with open carriers, it's their choice and life to do what they want without causing harm to others. The same goes for the guys that dress up in black chaps, cowboy hats, and rainbow shit and let the world know they are gay.

Funny thing is, both of that shit happens a lot in Texas.
>>
>>29311333
I have and will continue to consider open carry of rifles in public spaces pants on the head retarded. Carrying a handgun on your hip is fine. You are a fag

plz no bully...

Ausfag babbys first rimfire.

So /k/ I'm an Ausfag looking at my first rimfire .22 just for target shooting and maybe small game eventually. In my searches I've found Norinco, cheap Chinese copies of a K98 and they look breddy cool, mainly because I like old shit.

Anybody had any experience with Norincos?
From reviews I've seen, they're apparently pretty decent for a Chinese shit. Are they good or just a meme?

Canadians seem to like Norinco products just fine. I'm from the US, so it's tough to get Norinco anything because it was banned over 20 years ago.

>gun banned in US

W-why...
>>
>>29319193
Because we don't import guns from Chinese manufacturers anymore. I don't remember why.
