I thought these dudes were losing and were getting bombed by Russia, US and a shit ton of EU nations? Yet they're still going strong and launching offensives, why does it seem as if attrition is not taking its toll? Where is all this manpower coming from?

I find it hard to beleive that SA is moving all these fanatical military men into ISIS without the secret being blown, but then again there are still people who think Russia didn't invade Ukraine so maybe anything is possible
MR556 (HK 416) vs SCAR 16
I want a top of the like 5.56 rifle and these two seem to come up, a lot, in conversation. If there is another I'm all ears but I've narrowed it down to these two.
Everybody points to the HK as being the "best of the best" but they seemed to water down the MR. The barrel isn't even chrome lined. I remember watching a show, I think on the Military channel, and they had the 416 on there with a HK representative. He dumped the thing in sand, mud, dirt, dropped it in water, pulled it up fired it, dropped it again, over and over to show how much of a beating the thing would take. I'd hate for that to be sacrificed any in the civilian version.
Both are used by the military. Both are known for being very reliable. I take very good care of my firearms and clean them regularly. It's not like I'll abuse anything but it's always nice to know you have something as insurance just in case of that SHTF scenario.
I'm leaning towards the SCAR but I'm more than happy to hear from anybody who has an MR, or even both rifles, and what their experiences are like.
I want the best of both worlds. I want the AR platform that's tough as nails as an AK47.

Don't bother with the MR that they sell stateside senpai, it's just not worth.
SCARs are fun, but if you're going for 5.56 you don't really gain much over a good AR, even in terms of durability.

What is an average day in the military for someone that doesn't get deployed. My friend is an aviation mechanic and hes working 12-14 hours a day sometimes. Is this normal?

He started at the bottom end, worked up the normal stuff to become a Scimitar tank commander (Which still isn't really that high a duty) and then retrained to direct air strikes. You can't do that shit if you don't know your job well, so that speaks for him actually doing it. Went to Afghan, got pulled, so he re-roled as an Apache pilot so he could go back in again, given they were targeted anyway, so his status became irrelevant.
Every job he did he earned, because they aren't jobs you could have done without having the requisite skills to do them. He chose them precisely to GO into Afghan and fight, and fought a whole ton. Likely got more kills than most of all us owing to being in an Apache.
After retiring from active service, after 10 years, he went and created the Invictus Games which puts in an absolute fuckton of cash for wounded vets charities.
So yes, he has no end to respect over here. He earned his jobs, chose ones he would HAVE to earn simply to stop any suspicion, deployed to frontline multiple times, had a known rep for hating being referred to as a Prince (so naturally the lads did so whenever possible because thats banter) and then dedicated his life to helping any of us who get hurt with money.
