AK build update 80% done
The list of modifications is longer than I feel like typing.
Short version everything has been reworked greatly. Everything is super tight, No wobble when firing even with butt extended.
Dust cover had to be made from sheet steal from scratch. I needed a super positive fit. Milled rail to perfectly fit. The optic has 0 wobble. No after market solution worked for me for how i wanted it set up.
So part is impossible to buy.
Reworked mag release and machined parts to drop mag with lever that is used with pointer finger. My own design. Its works with any mags unlike the current shitty ones on the market. Feels like an AR system now.
Before you say "cheep this or after market that" All parts have had very heavy modifications made to them.
Why buy $150 parts when i am going to hack into them and rework them. Yes even the optic has been reworked for stability.
Going to say about 30 hours machine time total weight saving so far is about a 1/4.
I had about 30 things I want to improve, fix or change all together about the AK platform.
Paint is not sanded and buffed so finial look isnt done. But not sanding buffing and polishing till i am done with changes.

And yes the final rework is going to be the butt. When you take all the flex and wobble out of a under folder it hurts like hell after a 100 rounds or so. The flex did alot more then I realized to buffer the recoil.

Won't the dust cover wobble when attached to the weapon? Why not make the rail longer and bolt into the rear side base instead of sitting on something removable? I mean you could still have the optic sit back that far and have it stable.

Dust cover mounted optics generally don't hold zero. Plus what optic is that? It looks like a cheap walmart optic you find for 65 bucks.
