about a cap full every other load, run it for a few minutes before adding brass to allow it to work into the media
Was it really that shitty?
Yeah.
That 1 man turret syndrome.
That no turret basket.
That too-cramped-to-bail-out-during-an-emergency-so-every-time-one-gets-penetrated-the-crew-gets-burned-alive-thus-depriving-your-army-of-precious-institutional-experience.
The -85 and later variants fixed a lot of the problems, but the Sherman was simply a better design.
Sure, it was taller, but it was an extremely marginal difference (see pic) and it's absolutely worth it for the crew space.

It was a nightmare for the loader as he had to stand on bare shells with no guard, busted ankles were almost expected.
>>29506082
Good enough.
Is it the Future? Or will it forever remain a niche?
I've never shot it before, please tell me your experiences and thoughts.
>>29506005
Bump for interest.
If you haven't shot 338LM yet you will have no reason to for the rest of your life, unless you suddenly become an ELR shooter
This is not a plinker, this is an expensive as fuck workhorse
It'll never be more than a sniper cartridge due to OAL and barrel life issues. The US isn't going to adopt a 338LM MMG just because goat fuckers are shooting across mountain tops with enfields anytime soon.
tldr: 50bmg stronk, M2 is fine.
Not everyone is pro guns or anti guns. There are 50 shades of gray.
>>29505838
That's not pro-gun though. That's just common sense
Shut up bernie-bot...
>>29505838
You realize Sanders is anti gun though, right?
Well /k/, I'm finally in a position to start shopping for my first gun. I'm considering getting either a Savage Arms AXIS in .22-250 or a 93R17 in .17 HMR, but I'm having trouble deciding which to get. Most of my hasguns friends have recommended Savage for a budget firearm and I would like to stay under $400. Any recommendations?
Get the 17hrm or better yet a 22lr.
Cheaper ammo means your more likely to shoot more and get better
>>29505818
Also, I'd prefer to avoid a 22 because hoarders.
If you like savage, 22-250, and live near a cabelas you can get a varmint barreled savage 12fv for $419 with a hundred dollar mail in rebate... It's like a pretty good step up from the axis...
Libtard gun owner here. I'm following a thread on PoliticalForum.com and it occured to me that I do not know the history of the 2a, i.e. how it came to be, and for what reasons. I'm looking for a non-partisan explanation, preferably in book form, and preferably written by an academic who actually knows his shit. Any suggestions?
Pic is my newly built AR. Just got the head space checked and I'm good to go...

subtle bait though, I like it.

It was during the period immediately after the American Revolution. The Founding Fathers saw how important the local militias had been in the opening conflicts with British forces, and they realized that this would not have been possible without individually-owned arms. They also understood that any citizenry has the right to resist tyranny, with force if need be, and access to firearms is an excellent way to enable an insurgency against a militarized force.
President George Washington:
"The devising and establishing of a well regulated militia, would be a genuine source of legislative honor... carrying to its full energy the power of organizing, arming, and disciplining the militia; and thus providing, in the language of the constitution, for calling them forth to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections, and repel invasions." (Address to Congress, November 19, 1794)
I want to move to America just because I want my own gun, you guys are so lucky.

You poor Aussie bastards are definitely in a "nanny state". You also have some of the most fucked up motorcycle laws and gear restrictions. No tinted visors? Seriously? It's like you guys live in an giant New York, for fuck's sake.

A Taurus JUDGEment day
Women are on general principle much physically weaker then men. There is no denying that. But let's say that power armor, for whatever reason, is now a practical, reliable suit of body armor (or just an IOTV that is powered) that has a battery that lasts, let's say, two weeks.
Assuming the army does choose to buy/produce this, would that solve some of the problems of physical fitness and health for women in the army?
Also, on a side note, would power armor be treated like body armor for women in that it has to be adjusted for her?
Second side...

>Assuming the army does choose to buy/produce this, would that solve some of the problems of physical fitness and health for women in the army?
It would probably relieve the amount of weight a woman would have to carry on the field, if that's what you're asking.

Probably, if it's anything like an IOTVComment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Women will become as effective as men (purely in combat) when we get one of two technological advances:
1. Reliable powered armor good enough to make body strength irrelevant.
2. Prosthetics cool enough to justify chopping off your weak fleshy bits.
No word yet as to overcoming millennia of evolutionary conditioning that makes them less socially cooperated and less able to work in the hierarchical social system endemic to military life.
Also, no word on how to successfully condition all military...

You still don't want a soldier that would have to rely on a power suit to be effective or one that has a higher risk of injury than men
You can't just put a butt stock on a pistol, can you?
I think that's what this guy did, and the cops didn't seem to mind.

>>29505476
That's an "arm brace" by the ATF, it's not technically a stock, so it's OK to put on pistols without having to get your form 1 for SBRs.

anyone have a similar picture with a 14.5" barrel?
heck of a shotgun
>Is the .40S&W still a viable caliber?
>Will its popularity/availability increase, or decrease, or stay the same in the next 10 years?
>>29505235
It is yes. There is nothing inherently wrong with the cartridge, just that 9mm is better in most respects
And while people are moving back to 9, so many people and organizations adopted it that it'll be popular for a long time yet
>>29505235
>9mm does everything it can with higher capacity
>it will go the way of .38Super
10mm
