How do you get rust off a machete? Pic related, found it in a home my brother just bought. Seems like the old owner never even bothered to sharpen it and just left it in Its sheath to rust. Tried to clean it up as best I could. Any tips?

No, I just want a version of that gun that is a compact handgun. Not a subcompact.
If serious you want a 1911, everyone and their mother makes them. Find one that has combat sights and an extended beavertail, then throw an aftermarket wraparound grip on it, and you have that gun, but bigger.

I am looking for a .308 battle rifle and am looking closely at getting an FAL variant. From what I have read it looks like my options are to but a DSA rifle or a parts kit gun. Are the Voyagers really pot metal shit or is that just a meme? So should I buy a normal milled DSA rifle or should I buy a parts kit and get someone to build the rifle for me? I will be heading into the deserts of SE Oregon pretty often starting in a few months.
I've also gotten a new job with a much improved income.
So I'm looking to get into long-range shooting as a hobby. I am a few years cold, having only shot and hunted with my dads guns growing up. I'm looking for the absolute longest-range potential I could possibly get for under $1000 (Or $1500 if the argument is good enough.)
Preferably a .308, as I understand that to be the cheapest caliber to practice with, that can also be used for hunting. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I was initially looking at a Remington 700 LR, but I've heard and seen nothing but shit talk about Remington's made in the last decade.

If you haven't yet, look at Tikka's offerings. They're exceptionally good rifles for the price, and Tikka offers a 1 MOA guarantee on all of their rifles. My T3 Lite Stainless is definitely more accurate than I am.
SWFA and Vortex make great entry level scopes, if you've not already got some glass.
