Is it a meme gun, or should I buy one?

100% meme. If you want a 5.7 gun get the ps90, same fucking price too
>>

Looks and feels like an airsoft gun but it shoots a cool round. If you have spare money and you're just picking it up for the fuck of it go ahead and buy it.
>>
>>30103994
The only people I see talking about them seriously are the ones who learned about them through video games. For people who know even a little bit about guns, there are a lot of negatives and very few positives. If you're a collector who just needs every unusual firearm you can acquire, then that would be the main legitimate reason to buy one.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU PUT BACK THIS TRIGGER BAR SPRING/TRIGGER BACK IN A SIG

Any gun you have there is a YouTube video that will show how to disassemble and reassemble.

Research faggot, it's a thing.
>>
It's a pretty big design flaw, but you can't. You have to call Sig and ask if their warranty will cover a new trigger group. If you did it yourself, odds are you'll have to buy a new one.
>>

>Research faggot, it's a thing.

except there's numerous redesigns on it and I have an older one. There is no videos with the older version.

Any of you have guns specifically made for competition? Are they good?

What kind of weapon are you talking about?
22. pistols in general?
I shot a GSP (which was ok), a Hämmerli 280 (which was amazing) and a Colt 1911 clone by Walther (which was kinda shit)

I mean sports guns. Are they worth buying for someone who just wants to go to the range.

I assume yes. I don't own any Gorka stuff, but my guess is that the appeal is aesthetic.
>>

Well the one I used to own was comfy as fuck and kept me warm pretty well during the winters in Virginia. But now that I'm in Ga there's next to 0 reason to own one but to cosplay as slav.

Destroyers used to be cheap escort vessels designed to screen your capital ships from subs and torpedo boats. They displaced around 1-2000 tons.

Now they are major surface combatants weighting soemtimes in excess of 10,000 tons. They are cruiser-size. So why do we continue to call them "destroyers"? Is it a political/economic thing? Eg the government won't let you have ten new cruisers which are big, expensive ships but psychologically "destroyers" are cheap little vessels?

Mk41 VLS happened, turning the whole Frigate-Destroyer-Cruiser thing into more of a low-mid-high thing than a specialization in duty.

Basically, distributed lethality.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/a-first-look-at-americas-supergun-1464359194

Actually, almost all journalists - even from the NYT and WSJ, reveal their shit-tier science understanding - even in science and military posts. But here's a good new example of this:

'In conventional guns, a bullet loses velocity from the moment the gunpowder ignites and sends it flying. The railgun projectile instead gains speed as it travels the length of a 32-foot barrel, exiting the muzzle at 4,500 miles an hour, or more than a mile a second.'

>Um, anything launched by gunpowder accelerates down the barrel as the powder profligates behind it. (Except for the Gyrojet bullets! (And all rockets))

'Wires splay out the back of the railgun, which requires a power plant that generates 25 megawatts—enough electricity to power 18,750 homes.'

Powering 18,750 homes - for what, a day each? An hour?

'The age of the gun faded after World War II, hampered by the limited range and accuracy of gunpowder weapons. Missiles and jet fighters dominated the Cold War years, prompting the Navy to retire its big-gun battleships. The railgun—and its newly developed projectiles—could launch a new generation of the vessels.'

The age of the (naval) gun didn't fade after WW2 - it was snuffed out permanently at Midway.

'The Navy’s current 6-inch guns have a range of 15 miles. The 16-inch guns of mothballed World War II-era battleships could fire a distance of 24 miles and penetrate 30 feet of concrete. In contrast, the railgun has a range of 125 miles, officials said, and five times the impact.'

The railgun projectile will not penetrate 150 of concrete at a range of 125 miles. It's too light.

'Development of the railgun guidance system is about done, officials said, but circuits in the projectile must be hardened to withstand gravitational forces strong enough to turn most miniaturized electronics to scrap.'

>About done. But...

School's out, huh?

Hey IDPA/USPSA friendos

I just bought a RIA Double stack 9mm 1911 just to check it out and have fun. I'd like to use it for competitions, but I'm not sure when division it would put me in. For IDPA I think I'd be in ESP and for USPSA I think I could either be Production or limited. I've look through the rules but I cant find a super clear answer.

You'd be in Limited Minor for USPSA - there's a list for Production (and Carry Optics). Not a IDPA guy but ESP sounds right

I'm not familiar with either of those divisions. I don't think they're IDPA or USPSA.

Basically, Tugas sent paratroopers and marines overseas to Guinea, Angola and Mozambique in order to fight communist guerrillas funded by chinese and soviets.

Angola and Mozambique were the bigger problems, after years of war, there was a coup on the Portuguese junta leader Salazar by a center-left wing group, that ordered all troops back and gave independence to the countries, thus whichever militia controlled the capital city by the independence date would be the legitimate government, in Angola we had the west-aligned UNITA and FNLA, and the combloc-aligned FAPLA.

Later in the war, FNLA would be wiped out, and in order to hold things, South Africa would deploy the SADF to aid UNITA during the Border War, in Mozambique the combloc-aligned Frelimo guerrilla controlled the nation after the Portuguese coup, then underground resistance worked with Rhodesian SAS on some ops to attack the communists.

Eventually, with almost zero western support, UNITA would give up the armed fight to become a political party and ultimately end around 2002. SADF pulled out of Angola after the Cuito Cuanavale due to political pressure and the N embargo, not the mention their own problems with Mandela and his terrorists.

Not very different to Rhodesia's story, basically west-aligned colonialism and resistance fighters fighting terrorists and governments back by China, those same communists that now run those countries and just let China get all their natural resources as a form of "payment" for the help they gave during the war.

Probably the only time the AR-10 was ever fielded.

Portuguese army gave old surplus Mausers to friendly locals in all countries.

Their main battle rifle was the G3, but Marines used the FAL and Paratroopers used the AR-10.
They also fielded MG42s and later MG3s, used some old T-6 Texan aircraft for CAS and their cavalry consisted mostly of Panhard AML60s and AML90s, oh, and some old M5 Stuarts.
