What are some good hearing protection solutions?
I never really put much thought into it until my grandpa gave me some electronic earmuffs as a gift and I realized they're actually pretty great, kind of bulky though being full sized earmuffs, are there any good earplug sized solutions that can be had for an affordable price?
Anything that maintains the sense of directional hearing so you can tell where something is around you instead of just roughly to the left or right? Minimal interference with hearing normally when no loud noises are going on, or even enhancing...

The idea is a self-loading handgun that can be used as a primary weapon in place of a rifle or shotgun. The weapon that was made in response to this concept, the H&K SOCOM Mk23. It's big, bulky and doesn't even have a standard 1913 rail, but it's awsome!
I'm wondering, if there are any modern pistols that could stand up to the Mk23?
A .45 caliber, da/sa semi-auto pistol with a decocker that has a polymer frame, 5" Inch threaded barrel and a capacity of no less than 12 rounds.
The FNX-45 Tactical is a close one, but I'd trade out the manual safety for a dedicated decocker.

When you're in the field no doubt you'll be eaten alive by mosquitoes. But eventually does the body build some sort of immunity that makes the bites, and reactions not as bad? I'm still a boot, but some of the guys in my unit have mentioned that SF types dunk their uniforms in bug repellent overnight to help with that.

uniforms are coated in permathrin hence why they have a shelf life, and their only serviceable for like 6 months or some bullshit.
Theres also the old 90's permathrin bags and shit you might be able to get ahold of through supply, but i doubt it I only saw one and its just to show what the fuck it was and how to use it, but essentially its bag full of chemicals you put your uniform in and it makes it bug repellant for some time, and give you cancer.

There's no way this shit actually costs how much they pay to make them. Like M4 carbines being $1400 each when building an AR with completely milspec parts is like $600-$700.
Or like these new TCAPS smart ear plug systems they're deploying being $2000 each.
I have no idea how much a normal smart ear plug system costs, but there's no way it could be anything close to $2k.

Lack of velocity.
Energy is a measure of ONE HALF of an objects mass, but the SQUARE of its velocity.
Level III is rated for M2 ball (ONE hit). Can't be bothered to actually calculate anything since I am on my phone. For sake of simplicity, 30-06 will have a muzzle energy of 3800-4000 ish joules.
By comparison, .458 SOCOM will top out around 3500.
Now, muzzle energy doesn't tell the whole story, as obvviously bullet composition plays a factor--- but assuming all things equal...
