I've never fired a gun before and really want to take myself shooting. At the ranges near my house (which are still pretty far) there are some introductory courses but they all center around handguns and purchasing a handgun. Honestly I'm not that interested in shooting handguns or buying one. I just want to shoot rifles. I was hoping there would be one that centered around .22 rifles, which is the best place to start according to things I've read on this board. Should I take the handgun course anyway? or would it not be of much help. Would I be better off just reading up on gun saftey, watching some videos and renting a .22 and going to the range?

Read up on gun safety and go rent a .22 (rifle or pistol; it doesn't really matter)
Typically if you're renting they'll I've you the manual of arms for whatever you rent, so you should be good.

So I just got my new 1911 and I stripped it down to clean the parts because it's brand new but I am noticing some issues with the frame, and the finish on it. Does this look normal for a 1911?

Can any Americans explain the Second Amendment for me? Is it actually intended to make it possible for the people to rise against the government if it ever becomes tyrannical? If so, why does the whole discussion is focused exclusively around guns? Surely you'd need some heavier stuff in an actual civil war scenario (pic related), yet I'm willing to bet that even the most hard-line second amendment supports don't support ANY weapon being freely available. How does /k/ reconcile the two?

Have you tried to remove the magazine and let the bolt close on the round, then try and eject it?
Alternatively, get a cleaning rod and or something firm and long that will fit in your barrel, insert it into the barrel till it touches the tip of the round, get a hammer and smack the end until the round pops out.
