Hey /k. Gun newbie here. I'm in the market to buy my first gun which will be a 9mm, full size, semi auto. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Wather PPQ, Sig P226, and Glock 17. Does anyone have experience with these guns and if so, opinions?
I'm not going to use these for conceal and carry. More just for home defense and a fun range gun. Ill be getting a subcompact at a later date for my conceal carry gun.

If those are your three that you've "narrowed it down to," then you don't know what the fuck you want. The PPQ and Glock 17 are basically the same gun. The PPQ has different ergonomics and a better trigger. The Glock has higher capacity and more aftermarket. The Sig is a totally different class of handgun - in price, functionality (how the trigger works), and the amount and kind of maintenance you'll need to do.

Hey there /k/, lurker here, with a serious problem that I think your collective brand of ingenuity can solve.
I live on the outskirts of the suburbs of a moderately sized Floridian city. And I have a bear problem. Normally they pass through the woods near my home without incident, sometimes taking out a trashcan, but no real damage or threat. Until one attacked my dog, broke his back legs and forced me to put the pupper down.
I need some way to defend against bears. I know, I know, just buy a big gun and shoot the fuckers. But I've tried that and I found out that A: These bears are craftier than I thought, and B: I'm a massive pussy becuse I got chased back to my house by a bear.
I need to conduct some asymmetric warfare on these big furry fuckers. And I need some ways to go about this that won't land me in federal prison.
I was thinking of maybe digging some punji pits and going full vietcong, but not sure as to how effective it would be against bears. Maybe there could be a way to build anti-bear landmines or something? Preferably not explosive so I don't have every alphabet agency from here to Tampa knocking on my door.

Are lever action rifles worth owning at all?
I was thinking of picking one up for my next rifle but they often seem far more expensive than they need to be, especially Henry brand lever guns.

General thread and question.
What would you recommend for someone that doesn't want to be stabbed? I live in the UK but I don't mind importing the best as long as it's not some ultra rich man's thing or a meme worthy gimmick. Also some blunt impact protection might be helpful.
Ideally I'd like to have full body coverage. I was thinking about getting some gloves to but it would be a pain in the ass wearing that all the time just in case something happened. Guess I could keep it in a pocket if I saw it comming. I was looking at a website called blade runner. Some people recommended their gloves.

Had people try to mug me twice within the last year or so. Also had a group try to steal my dog and another tried intimidating me into handing over a 20 I just dropped and picked up. I was back tracking looking for it. Claimed it was theirs. Probably a few more if I thought hard enough.

I'd never but their wheelgats but their 92FS clones somehow don't suck copious amounts of D. The only thing that sucks about them is the factory magazines (which can be replaced with MecGar mags)
