I'm currently a nogunz living in NYC and I'm looking to change that. How bad is the process to get a rifle/shotgun permit if you're not rich or a LEO?
No, I don't have any friends/family outside of NYC that I could just bring something in. I'd like one solely for target practice and a potential SHTF scenario. Ideally a 12ga shotgun like a Remington 870 Express or a Mossberg 590. I know I can't own anything cool because we still have the AWB on the books at a city level. I'm not worried about any confiscations in that scenario, I have a feeling the NYPD would be too busy dealing with looters/savages.
See page 7/13, anything like a AK/AR even a Mini-14 is explicitly banned. I would've also wanted to pick up a short pistol caliber carbine but its probably banned.

About the only gun you can have in NYC is a nugget. Bolt action and only 5 round magazines. Nuggets, mausers, you get the idea. Don't play cute, don't try to get something that you know isnt allowed and don't play stupid games. Detectives have a quota of confiscating guns from legal owners for stupid shit in the city. You wont nor can you win here. It took my brother 7 months to get his pistol permit, they denied his carry and just gave him premis. He can only take it to an NYC range or home. Its illegal in upstate ny too. Good luck I guess, its not like you have any here. The best I can say is just don't bother. They already won.

I just watched a documentary about Army Sappers - 'The Trolls of the Battlefield'. It talkied about how they go into enemy territory and disrupts shit before war is even waged. Create land slides on lonely roads to block passage to a military warehouse. Blow up bridges and such. It got me thinking about Isis. Tthey supposedly have cells here looking to make bombs and stuff and coordinate attacks. But if they were like sappers they would just fucking hide in the woods and cut down telephone poles at night in the winter. You'd hurt more people then a car bomb, and make them lose faith in the gov't because if Katrina is any indication it would take months for them to restore power. This just proves to me that Isis isn't really trying to defeat anyone or achieve a goal. They just want to make noise and get attention.

Sappers do a much more intense job than infantry, seriously. Infantry aren't call of duty and sappers fall more in line with the original goal of the seals I'd also be willing to say an individual Sapper plays a more vital part in the war effort compared to an individual infantryman. Throughout history you see infantry being essentially just bodies that can take orders excersise discipline and shoot guns, from Rome to the British empire to today. Sappers can do the job of infantry, infantry can't do the job of sappers without training.

New to guns, having finally escaped the containment state of Commiefornia.
Would consider an SKS or other rifle if /k/thinks it would be a better option,
Wasr-10 can be found for around that price. The SKS is a good weapon too.

Been awhile since i bought an AK and mine are converted Saiga rifles with the exception of my pap92.
My best recc would be to only buy unfucked rifles. No cut and put back together messes.
Some of those are great but on most the accuracy was awful .
My Saiga is heads above in accuracy when compared to the previously chopped rifles.
I believe that VEPR rifles are unmolested.

If you're lucky you can still find a Saiga that is still reasonably priced. You have to stay on your toes and scan/refresh every gun site known to man, though.

would armor represented in the picture be useful? objects always try to find the path of least resistance so how about we heat-treat the inner layers to be harder and leave the outer layers soft, this way the projectile should be deflected upwards and away from the tank.

Or just have the current strand of reactive armor we currently use? For what purpose would this be used for? Most tanks already use slanted/angled builds just for this purpose of deflecting incoming rounds.

What do you think of the /k/sg? Is it worth forking out 1k? Is it reliable and good for home defense? Help me out /k/. Also if it's not good, recommend me something else.

you'll need to spend at least $200 on a grip, shell deflector, aluminum rail to cover the plastic pump rail, kydex cheek rest, and iron sights.
they're not bad shotguns. about the only thing they don't do well for shooting clays.
It's your money, but you can get two or three regular pump guns for that money.

I bought a lel kek because I wanted a 12 gauge and was ok paying twice as much (compared to a 590) for space gun aesthetics.
It's a pain to load. It can be done one handed without looking at the chamber, just takes some practice.
It will fail to feed if you don't SLAM the pump back every time. You can feel if the shell doesn't pop out the tube, and just unlock and pump again to get it loaded.
Howdy friends, so I've been thinking and if there ever was a Syrian war situation in your area, how useful would you be? If you knew how to make explosives, or mortars, or even artillery like the hell cannon in Syria. You've already secured yourself a better position vs someone who can only offer his body to hold a rifle. If you really cared about survival and about furthering your cause wouldn't you want to study on how to make and use ordinance/homemade artillery? Ideas? Any skills or things you know that make you valuable? Personally I'm going to be going to school soon for mechanical design and fabrication, and (on paper) I k ow how to make some plastic explosives out of easily obtainable things.
In summation of conflict happened in your area, what do you have to offer your side?
