What is the best 1911 for around $1000 bucks?

List of preference:
1. Springfield
2. ParaUSA
3. Kimber
4. Smith & Wesson

You can get a brand new Springfield Range Officer for $1000 from Cabelas, and elsehwere used for even cheaper.

Used TRP's can be around $1100, I'd get one of those if I wasn't a goddamn poor bastard
>>
>>30503002
If I had $1000 for a 1911 I'd buy a Ruger SR1911 and spend the rest on ammo and magazines.
>>
>>30503002
A used Dan Wesson maybe, but you'd have to be lucky.

CZ makes a mostly stock 1911A1 GI in the $800 range

No, they've been garbage for the past 16 years.

No, and no. Check with a local gunsmith and see if they can point you to a friend of a friend of a cousin of a guy who works with metal.
Or get an ar15/10/fal/fnc/ptr/g3/g56/m1a/m14/30/ak like the rest of us.
I mean look at you, with you're hipster ass gun and it's complete lack of aftermarket parts availability.

Picking up my first home defense shotgun, a Mossberg 590A1, 9 Shot with XS Ghost Ring Sights. What items should I get for it that would make it suitable for home defense, but not tacti-cool. Stuff like shell slings, side-saddles, and a weaponlight.

My question is, /k/ommandos, what brands should I buy from, as I am I first time owner?

Get a bayonet and a bunch of buckshot. Maybe a light if you're paranoid.
>>
>>30502340
Surefire, while sometimes pricey, makes very good, durable shit.

Mesa tactical makes pretty decent stuff from what I've heard.

Lots of guys also don't seem to mind glueing a patch of Velcro to the side of the receiver and using Velcro backed shell carriers. The advantage is its lighter, if the shell holders start to get loose you just buy more.

Maybe not as durable as aluminum but a better SUPER long term solution as they're far easier to replace. Also nice for three gun and the like and carrying more shells. Feed the gun from your side saddle, and when you run out slap another one on. No weird ass belts or anything.

Also despite what others might say you NEED a wml mounted to your gun if its for defense. After all one of the safety rules is to KNOW your target and what's beyond it. Far too many innocents killed by people who didn't identify their target.

dont buy a shell sling they are piles of shit that make everything unbalanced

Are you secretly a weapons patriot?

Do you believe that the things your country has, weapons, troops, etc, are better than everywhere else? Do you find talking about your own nation's things more fun?

I know I am, so I'm curious about others.

>Do you believe that the things your country has, weapons, troops, etc, are better than everywhere else?
I'm American so this is an objective fact.

If you give the US military a military objective such as Destroy the Iraqi Army or Conduct Operation Praying Mantis they will win overwhelmingly.

If you give them a political objective like Make Iraq and Afghanistan Democracies they are going to struggle and likely fail because those aren't activities a military should be taking part in.

Medieval thread- Discussion edition.
Something I've always pondered was what sort of weapons fit what body type. A man with longer arms would have more reach, he could either use a shorter weapon like a gladius and have the same reach as a man with a longsword but with more control, or he could use a spear and give himself an even greater reach advantage. Basically, what I'm trying to figure out is this: What sort of weapon is ideal for a huge man (aka game of thrones mountain), a short stocky boxer type guy, an average sized fellow, ETC. Example, I'm short as hell (5'5". Manlets, when will they learn?) but have big long arms and large torso (40" chest, 69" reach) What sort of weapon lets me capitalize on the great leverage I have, while mitigating my shorter stride (can't maintain ideal distance as easily) and overall average reach?

Post a body type or weapon and its ideal match! Explain why they fit well together!

Tell that to the Romans. Though it has some merit, I think a spear works at least pretty well for anyone.

First off, cool pic, if not for the ugly asymetrical wings.

To answer your question, I didn't have that much of an expirience, some 7 months and going, but I work as a blacksmith and I study historical arms, armour and crafts, among other things, so... there's a bit.

The notion that long-armed man needing shorter weapon is bullshit. Imagine a bind. Now you have less reach with a weapon and more vulnerable arms. Hey ho. That being said, it would be useful with normal-sized things. Reach is king.

About leverage, mantlets, big torsos... Fuckin' shield and an axe. If you've got big upper body strength, axes are the shit. Axes are shit for defense, though. If only there was an obscure thing that could easily be held in one hand and provides very significant defense. That's right, a shield! From my expirience, boss-held shields require more strength and are more actively used. Man, did my left arm get swole after few months of swinging 5kg bossheld shield around! And being a mantlet is actualy a plus with a shield, since you can hide behind it more easily. Footwork is also a little bit more forgiving with a shield.

As for the other body types. I guess it is a bit of stereotype, but I've seen it in real life, so hey, stereotypes are true sometimes.

-This one really lanky guy, real flamboyant and agile, he liked to use two light-ish swords to a fair effect, also things like crouching below attacs, even rolls sometimes, really agile fellow. Most of the time it worked. One time, I smashed him in the head instead of his gut because of that. Ow.

-Another dude, sorta small, sorta light-ish, he was a skilled archer and knew his way around a sabre, good with a shield, too. Me being 6'4" 250lbs though? One time we got really hardcore on eachother - smacked him with my shield on his, whith all my weight put into it. Sent him flying on his ass maybe 7ft away.

(1/2? to be continued? Ask away btw)

Well I'm looking to invest in a home defense shotgun. I'm looking for advice, recommendations, accessories for said shotgun. I own an old 20 gauge shotgun my grandfather passed on to me. But I'm looking to upgrade to a 12 gauge. I hear pistol grip shotguns are kinda more fir show than a standard stock shotgun. Anyway what do you guys recommend?

create Japanese jobs and making the JSDF kill against the chinks
>>
>>30501396
It's main point is being able to carry Anti shipping ASMs, and I guess for a single engine fighter being bigger with more internal fuel without sacrificing pylons to fuel pods is good when operating over open water, but that's what in flight refueling is for anyways so I don't know. Come to think of it I don't know if Japan has tankers, but I assume they are NATO standard.

Old doctrine was that rifles were unslung in combat. If you had to carry something in one hand, say an ammo box or a litter, you carried the rifle by the handle in the other hand.

The Ruger is built like a goddamn tank, incredibly strong and reliable
The S&W is subjectively "nicer" in terms of build and appearance, and IMO has a nicer trigger
Both are fantastic, I chose the S&W but you can't go wrong either way

Smith is smoooove but I don't like the ones with wood grips.
