No. Equipment was mostly geared for the cold war and not a COIN, but I guess nobody expected a hypothetical insurgency to last that long. Lack of DMRs (Korea-era M14s don't count), mine resistant vehicles and armored vehicles suitable to withstand rockets. Lack of desert uniforms too in some cases.

There was just enough of the right equipment for the invasion, but not enough for the COIN campaign afterwards. Lack of troop numbers as well, though that was politics and not due to a lack of capability.

Ive been thinking about emigrating to the US, but im completely unsure which regions would fit well. The reason on why I post it here because im into guns and into innawoods stuff. From what I've read Alaska, Wyoming, Washington and Arizona seem decent, especially because I like mountainous terrain and/or hot and/or humid climate. Obviously good gun laws are also essential imo.

The best thing that ever happened for the anti-gun people was the association of the left and anti-gun sentiments.
If guns become a left VS right thing, than gun rights will lose, just a matter of time.
