So /k/ I'm originally from Scotland but have just got my citizenship for murica moved to Florida and I was wondering what should be my first weapon ?
I was thinking something along the lines of a bolt action rifle like a mosin just because I crazy for soviet era weapons but are any other bolt actions fun to shoot with?

>>
Either a bolt action of some sort or a pump 12 gauge shotgun.

Orly?

Well for surplus, I love my Yugo m48, and my Swiss k31, but ammo isn't that cheap with either. Go mosin.

Felon here, was convicted in Nebraska, live in SD and plan to move to Northern Minnesota. my question is if I see a bear am I legally allowed to defend myself against it with a crossbow/bow/etc? I realize it would probably take more than a crossbow to take down a bear.

Also it was a non violent felony about 8 years ago, if that helps.
>>
I see no reason why not. But don't expect sympathy from anyone if you kill someone (even in self defence)
Also, ditch the middle ages tech and grab a black powder shotgun/revolver.

I don't think there's any problem with a felon just owning one. DNR might think you're poaching, However.
I'd recomend bear mace over a cossbow though.

What can I carry to defend myself when i'm out and about besides a gun? I don't have any martial arts training and I carry pic related. Tazer is a no as well because it's illegal here.

Oyeah I carry pic related and a flashlight too, it's pretty bright. I was just curious what some other things are available.

I've initiated my final solution for the fucker or fuckers digging their terror tunnels all along my back yard.

I've coordinated a three pronged approach that involves:

1. Poison bait pellets
2. Mechanical crusher vice traps
3. Gassing tubes (effectively poison smoke bombs)

But I don't know if this will be enough.

Anyone have experience dealing with moles and/or cryptomoles before?

/k/ is going to say no.

Some how, some where someone is going to compare or say you should have bought a nugget.

OP I own a few Colts of various vintage, some have been to 3rd party gunsmiths, some back to the colt custom shop.

I also own 2 Les Baer pistols.

You done good. I want to get a Wilson next after having played with a few over the years.

Well, we apparently never fully grasped the idea of internal combustion. So I guess we're technologically stuck somewhere in the middle ages but with better metallurgy?

surely there's other means of firing a projective/rocket with the help some sort of power from something right?

but I guess that's beside the point.

Why doesn't /k/ like stainless guns?
18 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Because I hate working with stainless steel
Because it is butt ugly
Because it hurts my eyes, reee!¨
Because only an idiot doesn't know how to care for carbon/non-stainless, and thus doesn't deserve one, same as with knives.
>>
>>30524826
I dont care what my finish is so long as its shiny
>>
I don't hate them, I just don't care for them. But, they can be butt ugly, like the Coonan .357 Hickok45 had in his video.

Is it wise to have a mounted light on a home defense Glock 19? How many rounds can I shoot with it before the light starts to wear down from the recoil, muzzle blast, etc?

10 clips
>>
>>30524460
If you buy a good light like the one in the picture, you probably won't have any issues past having to wipe the lense after a few hundred rounds.
>>
I've put about 600 rds through my 19 with a tlr -1 mounted. Other than cleaning the carbon off the lens, nary a hiccup.

Cold Steel knives are actually bretty good. The swords are durable but handle poorly because of little to no distal taper.
>>
Cold steel knives are some of the best that can be found. They're great. Their machete line is pretty fun too for what it is (get a 25 dollar gladius or dadao)

I haven't got any of their sword but I heard that's where the company falls off at.

What's your take on buying high quality gearb whether it be accessories or guns that are more expensive compared to the alternatives for your first time? Have an example of buying a Legion P229 for your first Sig or a Pro Tek for a fist CZ.

Looking at buying my first sling and I know about affordable slings such as the blueforce vcas, proctor sling and vtac yet I feel the desire to buy the hsp d3 that goes for $90. The price for the d3 is considerably more expensive though I feel like I will just buy it eventually even if I do get the cheaper sling first.

tl;dr, is it better to buy cheaper yet good quality equipment then higher quality counterparts afterwards to have a better appreciation and understanding of the higher quality product?

Your question is a bit convoluted, but I'll try.

>is it better to buy cheaper yet good quality equipment then higher quality counterparts afterwards
The answer is not necessarily. Some gear queers pride themselves on acquiring the most expensive shit like Dead Bird, Noveske, Outdoor Research, etc. However, the majority of people seem to just spend outrageous money on what they like. I have a mismatched array of gear. Some of it is very high dollar, such as my OR gloves, but some of it is relatively inexpensive like my Banshee RPC. Everyone finds what they value after owning something that they think could be improved. "Improvement" doesn't necessarily mean more expensive. I sold my HS Flatpack and replaced it with something cheaper because I liked the features more. People in /ARG/ are likely to spend a lot of money on their AR, but maybe not on gear. The inverse is likely in /GQ/ threads. Everyone is a sucker for something, but more expensive is not always necessary or even better.

With that being said, I can give you one piece of advice. DO NOT waste money on very cheap goods that you need to function for your own safety. Rifle receivers, plate carriers, optics, and weapon lights all have cheap alternatives to very high priced stuff, but the very cheap, airsoft shit is garbage. You will end up replacing a Condor plate carrier with something better so it's a waste to spend money on it in the meantime.

Is a 16" AR too long for home defense?

How about for a woman?

32" with the stock collapsed doesn't seem all that long, and they make 'em light too.

In the age of ultra-compact bullpup, are SMGs obsolete?

Considering the shit ballistics of 5.56, particularly out of shorter barrels, no.

>but pistol rounds suck at killing! rifle rounds are better!

Even SBRs make SMGs obsolete, so of course bullpups would, given they are superior ballistically to SBRs

Hello. I recently moved to Illinois and am looking for good gun stores. Naturally there are plenty of dick's, Walmarts and Cabela's nearby but I want something a little smaller, and in particular one that is very friendly to ffl mail orders. Anyone have any experience?

In particular I've heard Maxon and schranks smoke n gun are good. One issue with Maxon though is they have questionable friendlyness to customers which are under 21.
