How effective are flamethrowers in combat? Short range of about 20~40 metres combined with a risk to the user (people focusing their fire on the guy spraying molten death on their colleagues) makes me doubt their portrayal as unethical and terrifying weapons. Might sound 'video gamey' but I assume these would be legitamite concerns.

They were useful for the reason they were conceived in the first place.

To clear bunkers.
>>
>>30531333
Forgot to put this in, are flamethrowers even used in combat? Or just for burning enemy emplacements, destroying caches, clearing shrubbery, etc.
>>
You know there's a reason they're not used anymore.

Don't call me a dingus you jerk. I was asking because this one guy at my work was absolutely convinced it was fine, and it piqued my curiosity.

So I shot a shoulder protector from a IOTV with a .45 and a 7.62x25 mm the 7.62 tore a huge chunk of Kevlar out the exit while the .45 left a clean hole and small amount of Kevlar what caused this? hydrostatic shock? is that a thing in Kevlar? I'm curious as to /k/s thoughts on the results of this (I also recovered the slugs from another shoulder protector that I had up agents a better back stop)

>Get a Marine
>Get "landmines"
>Get the courts, news, and police/hospital in on it
>Hire a stuntman without a foot
>Perform a stunt where the stuntman is breaking into a home and gets hit by a landmine, and make it look real
>Have the police and EMTs arrive, write official reports on the incident. And have a local news team report on it.
>Have both men be tried. And have the "criminal" be charged with breaking and entering, and the marine is hailed with protecting his community, and allows him to place even more "mines" in safe areas that only a criminal would go

for home defense, is loading up a shotgun with every other shell in the magazine buckshot and then slug and then buckshot and then slug etc. a good idea? or should I just stick to one kind of ammunition?
110 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
my reasoning being, a slug would pack more punch, but have a lesser chance of a hit, and buckshot being a higher chance of hit, but potentially less punch if I missed?
>>
also shotgun recommendations? I heard the old Remington 870s are good but the newer ones aren't as well built as the old ones...

Need some advice /k/. My birthday is coming up and I'll be buying a new weapon for myself. My choices boil down to a new Glock 17, or an AK-47. I don't know shit about what to look for when buying an AK. If buying new, is there a good manufacturer to go with? Or should i just buy a used one, because I do enjoy a nice wood finish. Need some advice.

>>30530043
Might as well start with the 17, or even 19. Nothing wrong with an AK but unless you live on a farm or some other rural place with lax laws it'll just be a safe queen.
>>
>>30530043
Most types of AKM are interchangeable in quality and range around six hundred bucks.
A used Glock 19 can be had for north of three hundred dollars.
The /k/ answer is to get both.
>>
wasr 10 is the cheapest ak worth buying and it's $650

Hey /k/, I want to get my 17s cerakoted and just wanted to get some pointers on what to look for when choosing a place to have it done. Have found a few local ones that have galleries online, just want to know if there are things I should look out for.

Not sure what color I want to get, but I want to go two-tone and get just the upper done. I saw the blue FN team 16s that looked pretty slick and might want to get something like that.

Also, general cerakote/gunkote thread!

I don't think it looks too bad, I just don't want to go with flat camo colors. All the scars out there are either black, 50 shades of tan, painted a flat tan, or rattle cans with laundry bags.

Does anyone else suddenly get the urge to shoot yourself when holding a gun, but your body won't act on it?

Happened to me just a minute ago. It was so short that I couldn't have acted on it even if my body would have cooperated. Only been a hasgunz for 3 months now but this is the first time it's happened. I spooked myself good with this shit.
