The best anything depends on application. Given that you used battle rifle and not precision or designated marksman or similar terms, I'd guess a decent optic for your probable engagement ranges would be, in order from cheapest to priciest, primary arms acss gen ii 1-6, vortex viper, trijicon, SWFA SS, NightForce, us optics, schmidt & bender....

Currently own a CZ75b and an M1A and the 308 is a bit expensive to shoot.

So, /k/, help me out. I want a .308 battle rifle, preferably something I can scope with relative ease. I've narrowed it down to two that I am interested in. Can anyone with personal experience with either weigh in?
Options are:

>PTR 91
I am an AR guy and love my two AR-15's, but lack of commonality between manufacturers when you move into .308 territory makes other options also appealing. I'm mostly concerned with ruggedness and reliability. I like to shoot cheap shit ammo because nice .308 is expensive. Brown bear is one of my favorites.
I'm leaning toward the PTR because I think it will be more reliable with steel case, but I have no way of really knowing for sure.

Once I get my work bonus in a few weeks I'm going submit the paperwork for my CC permit. I still need a holster, and I'm not sure how/where to wear my gun. It's a G19 like the fag I am, and it's just big enough that 3 o'clock is too bulgy, and appendix makes it impossible to sit. Does a holster help even out these areas when carrying, or do I need to just manage and practice?
Y'all have a knife (or fun) that is the benchmark from which you judge other options? For me its my paramilitary 2. I like to weigh the differences between it and any other knife i might buy(pic mine but unrelated)

Hard to say, really. For something I'd pass down to my kids or grandkids, it'd be my special edition Case Marlin. If it was for over all value and an ability to be a work horse, it'd be between my Esee-3 and my Paramilitary 2. And as for EDC blades that go with me every day, it's hard to beat my Benchmade mini-grip or my Izula.
I have more love for my Case Marlin than any of them, but it was also a gift from my father and the most pleasing to look at.
