I love dogs, had dogs growing up, enjoy them a lot, but they are massive security risks. Especially pitbulls and such. They are killers.
What are the best solutions, other than guns, for defending against dogs? Does human pepper spray work on dogs or should I get special dog pepper spray? I wear steel toed boots so I think a kick would really mess a dog up. Are knives useful?

Never turn your back and run, always maintain a defense posture at a aggressive dog. If he charges you, maintain posture and prepare for the fight.
Protect your vitals, a dog bite is only serious if it penetrates an artery.
Fight by kicking, but insure you do not lose balance, do it swiftly and hard, aim for the underside of the dog.
Try your best to gain control of the dog, use your weight to get on top of the dog. Once you pin you have complete control, as they are very weak to throwing you off of them. Once in this position a knife would be an easy solution to ending the threat by slicing the throat or if long enough blade putting it through the rib cage to the heart.
Regular OC spray will work fine.
I've been charged by a dog once while walking my smaller dog. One swift kick to the rib area cause the dog much pain and it ran off.
Why does the United States need to maintain the Korean deployment when the ROK military is enormous and more than capable of defending itself and the US military deployment is too small to be of any real value in the event of war, forces based in Japan would be able to be deployed to assist if required, and also why is it so top every with 3 generals?

I'd like to believe 9x25 Dillon would work but I don't think anyone's really tested it. On the other hand you could dump a 17 round mag and modest recoil as opposed to teeth chattering, 5 shot clunky ass revolvers.
.44 mag is pretty much the standard in terms of the pistol cartridges power you'll want to have in case a grizzly gets mad at you.

what is US gun law on muskets and muzzle loaders and breech loaders? are they as restricted as case ammo firearms? what about in the euros?

According to US law muzzleloaders are antiques, not firearms.
Anyone over 18 can buy them.
In Europe the same usually applies, but the guns in question have to be actual antiques, not reproductions.
That is to say they have to be manufactured before like 1890.
