A lot of them were tourists who answered consistently about the country and their trip experience

Yes, and that's because it's a .jpeg which means it was saved as a bitmap graphic. So when you use the paint bucket tool, it only colours the individual pixels as opposed to an object.

It depends where you go. The mountains and all other touristy places are very expensive. But a place/hotel in the suburbs or a small town are cheap.
Big international cities like Geneva or Zurich are also very expensive but smaller ones like La Chaux-de-Fonds or Stans are cheaper. If you want cheap combined with cool weather I can recommend the central cantons Cantons (Uri, Nidwalden...)
