ITT: You ask for help on your weak spot, and anons will help you with material, tips, recommendations and etc.
BUT there is a condition, by doing that, you commit to the thread, to help others with your strong spots, with what you know you can be of help (whenever you have the time to, of course).

What kind of pencil do you use for drawing?
When do you decide to switch it up?
I currently use a 3B pencil
#2
For A4 drawings I tend to use 2B for most of the drawing and something like an H or 2H to draw details in the light-shape. I used to use a 4B for my general drawing but it doesn't give the same kind of sharp push as the 2B does. If I'm working larger than A4 then I might use something softer to start with.
I tend to work really light at first and slowly build up definition throughout the drawing. I try and focus on separating the light and shadow shape, using a softer pencil for the shadow shape and a harder one for the light shape helps with that. I've...

Mostly 2B; there's nothing nicer than a freshly sharpened 2B pencil, imo. I'll start with that, and use a 4B and 6B when I need to get down to darker values, because as much as I like starting with 2B, it doesn't get dark enough to finish the job. I don't really use anything other than those three. I've tried using some H pencils for lighter stuff but I hate they way they feel.

Does there have to be a "you will never be" thread every single day?
hey /ic/ not sure where to direct this question as im not a regular here and the sticky didnt instruct me on this but i am an architect student and i was comissioned on designing a catholic church and i am looking for a modern approach at the 14 stations of the cross, something like pic related but i cant find the artist who made them so if you know the name or if you have any other proposals id love any kind of help thanks
I can't think of a modernist who has done the 7 stations of the cross.
You have t come up with that by youserlf, just look at some modernists firts.
This is the close i can get with blind contour. Those in the natural way to draw are bullshit. Must be.

you're sitting too close to your subject. You should be far away enough from it so that you dont have to move your eyes to see the top and the bottom of it

Why? He says opposite. So basicaly what ure saying when i draw i shouldnt be moving my eyes? Read bottom text
YOU THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD NOTICE
Anyone got some examples of "artists" being sneaky?
Left is concept art for the video game Arcanum, right is Jean "Moebius" Giraud.
>>2387343
And moebius reffed some pics from some age old prehistoric comic or something. Who fucking cares, it's just the circle of life. I do this nonstop and nobody will ever notice unless I become super popular and famous, and by that point it won't matter that I am a dirty plagiarist. Zero fucks given.
In fact I have the art of prometheus book lying right next to me and there's photobashed concept art that doesn't even try to hide the fact that it stole from photographers.

living in the boons makes it fairly difficult to get professional teacher. So I figure the best course of action is to do an online course since they offer the help and guidance of someone who's a professional. I want to know if The Drawing Academy is worth the 300$, Is there better online courses, is it a scam, and your positive/negative experiences with any online course.
I took the Jeff Watts one online for 99 bucks and it had a lot of good information and a shit ton of videos.
>>2386851
In my opinion the only reason to pay for an art teacher is if you got 1 on 1 critique, preferably in person. Also maybe to meet people.
There is more than enough material online to become an amazing artist. YOU are going to be doing all the work regardless.
>>2386892
of course there's more than enough information online but courses offer a better guideline on what a person should be studying and from what i've read they also have teachers you can ask questions when needed and to help you break bad habits you might otherwise overlook without the aide of a teacher. Online courses just seem much better than being self taught and could probably save a person a lot of time. books are also boring as fuck to read.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
