I spent a few days making a 2d art piece of Casey Neistat. Everything was hand made except for his hair, eyebrows, and ears. Those were mostly the cutout effect in PS. What do you guys think about it?
I dislike how the level of detail is very different when you compare above and below his shades.

i completely deslike vector art. it has to be really really done to perfection so it doesnt look automated and gimmicky. why not go the whole length and do a digital art illustration? as for your piece, it could use some more personality on shape definition.it really looks it came out of vector magic or something, don't mean to hate, tho

That double-headed dildo going through the AS needs to change. Looks aside it adds nothing to the image that says "ANIME". The font is boring and looks childlike.
The logo needs to make someone go on first glance "hey this logo is for anime site!"

Out of all the languages which should you learn to increase your design opportunities?
Im thinking Japanese as a second language but that's mostly because I like them and read manga, it also translates better for opportunities because of surrounding countries such as China.
Spanish if you live in the US. The Hispanic market is on the rise here.
Possibly Sanskrit as well since India is on the rise from a global level.
Mandarin is quickly eclipsing English as the modern lingua franca, so if you're serious about learning a language for business that'd be the one to start with.
French, Spanish, German, etc. are also really good to have, and share a lot of basic rules that make them fairly straightforward to learn.

Just saying, it would've been nice if you had offered something of your own to start the thread off. I'm contributing because I think something like this would be useful, but next time it'd probably be a better idea to at least bring in a contribution yourself.
Anyways, one of my most frequently used is Mister Retro's Machine Wash suite. It's all really simple stuff, but it saves me plenty of time when I'm going for faded or retro styles or photo mockups.

I'm trying to recreate this effect.
As you can see, there seems to be a square matrix over the camera feed that alters exposure, blur, etc.
I was thinking about making a matrix in photoshop, filling different squares with different tones of grey and using that as a mask in after effects.

Because Photoshop is industry standard. I'd laugh my ass of, then shake my head if anyone sent me a Gimp file. Gimp doesn't even provide 1/3 of what Photoshop does, especially in image editing. You have to download an additional program just for RAW editing which is fucking ridiculous. It may be great in sketching and illustrating, but even Paintool Sai is better than Gimp in that.

So I'm a photographer by trade, I made this logo a while back, but I want to improve it. Not sure where to start. I still need it to be simple so it's not distracting as a DO NOT STEAL watermark on my photos, but I also want to get the photography point across, as well as my name (kaz) . Obviously in the world of graphics today, I'd rather the form come first, but I suck ass as a graphic designer. Any suggestions on where to start or changes to make to this one?

Just give the Z a little more space and possibly move the A over towards the K just a tad. Basically just make it more balanced and symmetrical. Overall it's pretty nice though.

What's the best way to learn how to get gud at GD? So far I've just been messing around with GIMP and ms paint (too poor to afford photoshop).

Stop using GIMP and MS Paint (is this a joke?).
If you're a student, it's a $12/month payment for the entire adobe creative cloud, meaning you get access to photoshop, illustrator, etc.

I heard gimp is the best free alternative to ps, and I use ms paint just to dick around with.
I'll probably use the free trial for the adobe creative cloud, but I don't think I could afford to stick with a monthly plan. I mean I'm only learning this as a hobby for now so I don't want to quite start dropping $$ on it quite yet.
